Who will the next big bad be?

^ Even then, it wouldn't be possible (he was in The First Avenger).

I'd like to see Bryan Cranston cast as Norman Osborn and see them adapt Dark Reign in the MCU!

If only we could get a 20 years younger Tommy Lee Jones for Norman.
and then the tommy lee jones in the first avenger is really a spy named Norman Osborn and he is the one behind everything so he steals the super soldier serum and stuff

Imo, Galactus would be the next logical step.

If the Fant4stic become a success and marvel can't get galactus then they have to use another villain as the big bad

Who is the biggest cosmic threat aside from Galactus and Thanos?

He's way more than a Ghost Rider villain.

I know. But he is very important to Ghost Riders story.

Anyway. Kang would be a good choice. Skrulls would be another that you can build through different franchises. These would keep them close to earth. Then you can let the Guardians/Captain Marvel/Inhumans/Thor/Doctor Strange deal with cosmic threats.

The next big bad shouldn't be a cosmic threat character i think. Dormammu or Mephisto could be the choice

The cancerverse, has to be, read The Thanos Imperative for the proof as Galactus and other cosmic entities are involved in the battle.

Dormammu is an obvious choice. He can easily be introduced in the Doctor Strange movies and established as a major cosmic threat.

Josh Brolin, played the younger Version of Tommy Lee Jones character in MIB3

maybe he could play a dual role in the MCU

I still think that the High Evolutionary has potential. Having him run the Savage Land and create the Mutates there could be cool if done right. It could also be a Ka-Zar/Shanna spinoff at the least.

Yeah, The High Evolutionary is a strong option. So could the Beyonders, Living Tribunal, Celestials, Dormammu and Kang all could carry an arc over the course of two to three phases like Thanos. The consequences of Thanos's actions will likely have repercussions for the known universe that would bring about a disturbance in the cosmos which would get these entities involved.

But there is no way they go from Thanos to Norman Osborn being the big bad ass villain of the MCU over three phases. That's laughable when you have to increase the stakes. That means a cosmic or supernatural being.

Norman Osborne has never been a convincing megavillain. He managed to be threatening at the above-Spiderman level purely because of undeserved plot gimmes.

Anyway, as for cosmic villains bigger than Thanos and Galactus, there aren't that many. I suppose there's the Celestials, collectively. There's Death and/or Oblivion. There are Cosmic Cube Entities, like the Beyonder. There is the odd absurd Dr Strange villain ( though Dormammu is *not* more powerful than Galactus ).

A lot of the Marvel arcs as of late have been homegrown threats or just alien races, that's the thing. The cosmic stuff has been more DC's wheelhouse. Every other Marvel crossover story over the decades have involved them fighting each other.

Even so, another cosmic based villain or someone on that caliber would be the best choice. As stated before, villains like Green Goblin aren't big enough to be the focus of an Avengers film. It'd fall entirely flat.

I wouldn't scratch Ultron out of the equation yet. He has a tendency to always come back bigger, better and more vicious than before. And as a character he is strong enough to cast his shadow over a couple of phases.
Also Kang and Doom (as soon as the rights revert) are always possibilities.

I don't think any human or even man-made villain (like Ultron) quite measures up. The next threat has to be even bigger than Thanos, and that's a tall order.

I don't know if getting bigger and bigger is the order of the day though. Getting more personal and deadly is probably the best direction.

I mean compare the effect of malekith on Thor versus the winter soldier on steve. Malekith is a lot more powerful but ws is far more devastating

Yeah, there's no reason to get bigger right away after Thanos, you can only go so far before "end of the universe scenarios" get old.

Kree-Skrull war, Galactus, Kang, Ultron's return after conquering some bits in space, etc are all possibilities. If they want too, they can even go explore the multiverse. Each Phase can have its oun storyline, but the "Go bigger or go home" idea would only end up resulting in disaster for the mcu.

I'm still hoping the FF rights never revert

As for the next villain it should be a more personal/hit the heroes where they live type of deal

I like the idea of Secret Invasion. Not knowing who is real and who is a Skrull would shake the idea of the Avengers and their relationships to each other to the core.

The next big baddie will probably be the Magus and the Universal Church of Truth. Some sort of religious cosmic cult coming to convert earth. Probably a totally different take on it in the MCU.

Anyways they got to dig deep into the box of creativity to come up with some new and interesting concepts that won't retread things like ominous super villain wants to conquer or destroy the universe or another alien army coming to invade and engage in battle especially after the Infinity War crisis with Thanos. Got to keep things fresh.

Galactus isn't an option right now and they got other cosmic deity they can use with other motivations.

Masters of Evil, Kang The Conqueror, High Evolutionary, then potentially Doom and Galactus should FF revert. All possibilities.
