I remember hearing about a collectors' item edition in which Superman fought Wonder Woman( in the middle of WWII no less!) My question is: who won or was it a tie?

For that matter just WHAT did the Man of Steel( as opposed for 4-F- that's "medically unfit for military service" for non-Americans) do during WWII? Granted there was only one of him and not even Superman can be in two places at the same time, but I would be curious as to what he did for his adopted country during those years.

of course Superman would win.

He is the best, afterall.

There is no hero who could beat him except some supernatural being.

Well, while the comics during the war usually had propaganda covers with Superman wreaking all sorts of havoc on the Nazis (most of which can be found on sites like Superdickery), the actual stories themselves usually didn't have anything to do with the war. Apparently the writers decided against it, out of respect for the folks who were actually fighting.

Don't know about the big fight between Supes and WW that you're talking about, but I know in current continuity they've butted heads at least twice. The fight in For Tomorrow was interrupted when the Fortress of Solitude self-destructed, and the one in Sacrifice had Superman under mind-control, which WW broke, thus technically winning the fight.

She broke the control by snapping Morgan Edge's neck. I don't think that necessessarily counts as winning the fight, and if I recall she went through the murderous act in desperation since she knew she wouldn't beat Superman in Hand to hand combat.

By the time she killed Max Lord (not Morgan Edge), the fight was already over. WW had broken Supes' hallucination by cutting his throat open with her tiara-shuriken thing, the shock of which snapped him out of it. She killed Lord to prevent him from taking Superman's mind again.

It was obvious WW was losing the fight until she pulled her desperation moves out, I think she knew that as well. Superman broke WW's wrist, I doubt WW could do the same to Superman.

Right, but those desperation moves won the fight for her. Regardless of who's stronger, the fact that she was smart enough to change strategy gave her a win.

She only won by taking out Max Lord though, In an all or nothing fight, Superman would definately be the victor.

Without her magic weapons, yeah, I don't think she could take Supes. With them, I wouldn't be so sure. Plus, Supes would be far more likely to hold back than WW.
