I think it proves Joker was right all along, Batman is being cast out "like a leper". I noticed in the interrogation room Batmans slowly coming to the realisation that Joker is right, you can see the rage slowly building on his face.

But The Joker was only half-right. Sure, Batman was being "cast out", but it was only because he made the decision to become an outcast, for the good of Gotham.

yea good point, but the joker is putting him in the situation where he has to make that sacrifice. The joker has pushed things so far that to save Gotham Batman has to make the ultimate sacrifice, his one rule. Him and Gordon know hasn't broken it but everyone else now believes Batman is a murderer. Thats gotta be a huge win by joker.

Joker won 2 out of 3, I think batsy won in justifying the death of harvey, but the people DID vote to kill and Harvey DID turn into a pric, even if noone ever knows it, he actually won over harvey's soul.


Did anyone else think it was really cool in the hospital scene between The Joker and Two-Face that the joker was being nice to Harvey on his right side "what happend to you and your girlfriend wasen't personal"
and then went over to Harv's left "bad" side to convince him to become such a pric.

The fact is The Joker didn't care about winning. He was in a win-win situation. Get Batman to quit and he runs riot. Batman doesn't quit and he still runs riot but gets to taunt Batman in the process. Harvey Dent and the Gotham City public were just pawns in his game, he couldn't care less how corruptible they are because they can ultimately be terrorised - the more opposition there is the more fun he has.

So, in truth, Batman won because he and the people of Gotham city (those that he is there to protect) remained incorruptible (despite their efforts to kill Reese), and survived to live another day. The only way the Joker could have won was if Gotham had descended into anarchy and Batman had given in, leaving him to rule the roost.

Harvey Dent was Batman's hope to lead the people of Gotham in defiance of the criminal fraternity, but the fact that he was eventually coerced into evil only goes to prove what a hero and a blessing Batman is to Gotham. Batman has lost just as much as Harvey Dent, if not more, but he never discarded his principles and thus remains Gotham's defender.

Simply put, as long as Batman exists his enemies will never win regardless, because Batman and everything he represents/inspires undermines all that his enemies aspire to. That's why, eventually, all his enemies give up on trying to create anarchy and go after him, then find they can't defeat him and try to create anarchy, then fail and try to destroy Batman, and so on, and so on.......

Batman wins!!!!!!! (unless you include actually having anything resembling a life, having a family, not watching your friends and innocent people die constantly etc.)

yea but to the people of gotham, batman isn't their defender, they probly all hate him now. thats why i think joker won, batman didnt actually break his one rule, but now every one thinks he has so in the eyes of everyone else batman has become what he is meant to fight.

For the moment... Batman is the winner but there is always the chance that the Harvey Dent cover-up could be made public. The movie proves that you aren't "dead" until your in the ground with the Joker and Gordon faking their deaths.

There is a small group of people that know of Harvey's fall. Batman, Joker, Gordon, his family, Maroni (was never shown dead probably is but still) and Ramirez.

The biggest loose cannon here is Ramirez.
