I think the cartoon series back in the 90's did such a better job at the whole spiderman thing. The question I asked myself all the time is , how come when comics books are turned into anything. The cartoon series are always better than the movie. It's as if the movies is in a whole new universe. 300 was successful due to who close it stayed to comic. From the poses , to the character. I think SM3 could have been a great movie, however someone never took the proper timing to make it a great movie. I'd rather watched the caroon series to these movies. I swear the cartoon series are also more graphic then these crap they put otu. Granted the bad guy escape, the fight/batle scene are always nice. As well emotion , making you feel for a character. I just hope Transformer doesn't dissapoint this much.

In terms of the black suit/ Venom, I'd rather watch the 90's cartoon.

the cartoon handled the 'Black Spidey' EXCELLENT, u gave me an idea, i'm gonna dig that up to get my mind off this crappy depiction on the big screen....the cartoon showed the effect of the symbiote and how it bonded with Brock and he went into 'training' gather info......thats a shame that the cartoon really did a better job with the whole story of Venom.....wow Raimi really blew it

Raimi didnt blow it he was just forced to add something in that he didnt want to at the last minute

Anyway i prefer the movie; it wasnt that bad. Yeah, it was bad for a venom story but overall it was ok.

The cartoon's definitely great spider-man interpretation. At least the good episodes are... too bad it was censored so heavily and couldn't get the best animation... still it's well written. I highly recommend it for spidey lovers.

hey man if you can, post the youtube link up for some people to see. The movies is cheesier than the cartoon. The Cartoon was geared at children only.

OMG is this even debatable? SM3.

wow, people are REALLY exaggerating about the movie. It really wasn't as bad as people are making it out to be. I guess if this was any other superhero, people would be giving it a break. But since this Spider-Man, people are much harder on it. I still enjoyed the movie. I liked the cartoon too, but it didn't have the comedic tone that the movie had. The comedy was great in SM3.

the cartoon took way more liberties than raimi ever did. i dont even think ONE EPISODE was based of the comic book.

Yeah it's debatable. the cartoon doesn't take short cuts like ignoring spidey sense, raining symbiotes into the story at random, having venom not say WE, uses webshooters, spidey can't keep his mouth shut for a second... it runs circles around the movies with ease because the film makers are lazy while Semper did the best he could to get spidey right.

Besides Avi Arad trying to screw it up, Semper tried everything he could to make it as close to the comic as possible and he succeeded. It's closer to the comic than the movies.

Want a list of what it got right?

SM3 is a superhero movie not a comedy. I understand humor, however there was just way too much in there. That's probably what the problem was. The director never saw the seriousness of spiderman. Instead they took lightly and I'm left saying WTF...I didn't come here to laugh, I came to watch a superhero action flick.

My thoughts exactly. Kinda makes me wonder if the first two films weren't so good would the third be as heavily criticized...

I rather watch aluminum in a microwave than Spider-Man 3.

The decent Spideman version, the respectful omne: the cartoons. And I even prefer any of the 1966 episodes to this Spidercheese 3.

I liked the cartoon too, but it didn't have the comedic tone that the movie had.

And praised be the Lord by that.

Which once against proves us that basing movies directly on comics doesn't mean crap.

yeah look at it this way: if this was FF 2 then it would be great; because quite franky the first FF sucked wayyy worse then sm3.

People are just criticizing sp3 because 1 and 2 were legendary. Sm3 isnt legendary. It doesnt set the scale for other movies to follow. It isnt going to revolutionize anything. But it was better then most other superhero movies. Just admit it. The more you see it the more youll realise that.

Not really. It's really bad. Superman Returns even kills it and that movie introduced us to Super boy for franchise killing sake.

I thought spidey 1 and 2 were both mediocre too so that's not influencing my thoughts. the shoddy filmmaking on display is all I'm looking at.

It wasn't last minute, it was pre-production. And that shouldn't matter, Raimi still should have been able to pull it off, whether he liked the character or not.

Besides, he was going for 3 villains before they told him to use Venom.

Using John to bring the Sym to earth would have worked much better especially with the character already introduced. It would have been perfect.

FF > Spiderman 3....

Agreed. The 90's cartoon handled the symbiote storyline so much better than SM3.

Venom actually was in only one episode in the symbiote costume trilogy...so that's 20 minutes just like SM3 :woot:
