Dang, calm down now. This is still a movie. I'd rather watch a movie than a cartoon. Especially since I've seen the toon version a thousand times. The Spidey toon did do the Peter's dark side 100000000000x better than the movie, though.

But at least he did more in the cartoon. Like visiting Peter at home and stalking him. I wish he would've done that in the movie. Really, and entire movie about Venom stalking Peter, messing with his head, getting near his loved ones, and Peter knowing full well that he could strike at any time, that would've been so great.

Right on the dot.

If Raimi would have followed the TAS, he would have ended up with something much better than the crap he served the world in Spider-Man 3.

Ironically, that's what he did. In the cartoon, the symbiote altered Peter's personality and made him darker. This never happened in the comics.

FF > Spiderman 3....

Wow....I just....wow. That's extremely surprising. I mean, FF was an entertaining movie, but I thought it had far more faults then any of the Spider-man movies, and I'm pretty critical on the Spider-man movies.

The one thing I did like about FF though, the human torch acted like and had lines like Spider-man should have had in the movies. That's another thing the cartoon did better too, they actually gave spidey a personality.

A million and one yeses. Absolutely. That show was what brought me into Spider-Man, long before I read the comics. I loved it, thoroughly enjoyed it, and continue to. I bought The Venom Saga on Thursday after seeing the midnight screening. The argument I've gathered here (I'm replying from the first page) is that the cartoon series wasn't completely true to the comics; no, in my opinion, it improved them. The real difference here is not 'how different'; it's 'how much sense does it make, plot and character-wise?'

It would have been nice if Spidey had actually thrown punches in the '90s cartoon and if the cops and villains had used real guns instead of laser guns and if Morbius had actually bitten people instead of having lame "energy suckers" on his hands...

...but yeah, I'll still take the early episodes of the cartoon over SM3.

or if the animators had made the guns look more conventional weaponry as did marvels gi joe series

You people make me laugh. Whats ironic is, the 90s animated series is more like sm3 than the first 2 crappy spidey movies.

Definitely the 90's cartoon.

Symbiote Spidey is more serious and intimidating, and Brock's presence is actually felt in the story, unlike in SM-3, where he's merely an after thought. Plus, Venom is a much scarier threat.

When it came to the big stories, the 90s cartoon held its own. Its take of the symbiote story is probably the best to date.

saying this i would also watch the 20 minute ep of 'armed and dangerous' than the whole of spidey 2 because it is better.

To be honest neither.

I'd still rather watch classic 70's porno.

buttt.... If I had to choose between cartoon or movie symbiote saga I guess I'd go with cartoon.

I mean how cool would it have been if dark Spidey beat the crap out of Rhino instead of dancing like an even gayer The Mask.

plus it would be cool to see a movie version of Madam Web and Carnage down the road.

I wouldn't say the whole five seasons.

If one is to make a comparison like that, then you have to take all the cartoons against all of the films...

if you are looking solely at one film, then you have to take the cartoons that are as closely related to that film to compare...

in this case, the alien costume/venom saga trilogy

don't forget the venom returns saga

that saga has no correlation with the third film in any shape or form.

ok i was thinkig of it because it DID feature ol'droolboy

this is such a ridiculous thread... there is already a hate thread!

So we've forced to open only one thread for critics but 100 threads for loving him? C'mon, everyone must have his rights to critic. Facts are that A LOT of FANS got disappointment and they simply cannot accept that this movie must be considered anyway as a good movie. Simply and clear.

The third film had no correlation with Venom's saga.

That's rubbish

both mediums showed the following

symbiote coming to earth from outer space
symbiote sneaking into peter's apartment undetected
symbiote bonding with parker during a tragic dream sequence
parker awaking in the middle of the city upside down in a suit he's never seen before
pete testing out new abilities and enjoying it
pete becoming darker
pete taking symbiote to connors and him analysing it
eddie brock taking pictures of spiderman
eddie providing jjj with wrong information
eddie getting fired
parker in a suit being very confident
parker's realisation that the suit is affecting him negatively
spidey taking it too far with his villain confrontations and wanting to kill them
parkers getting the suit off at the church
eddie gaining the symbiote at a church
parker and eddie fighting with venom telling pete he's realised his identity
eddie telling parker his motivations
inevitable parker realising that sound is a weakness and using it to defeat venom at the end

if that is no correlation in your eyes, then I seriously don't know what is...

:o

it's practically the same story.

pete becoming darker

Dorker, you mean... all this is only in theorical way, if you look inside details of transposition everything of Venom was ruined and wasted. He's NOT reminding to Venom except for the aspect, and he neither calls himself Venom.
