Who's Gonna Get Snubbed During Awards Season?

Chloe actually getting nominated? For her age she was impressive and better than most child actors but Oscar worthy? Not a chance in hell.

Inception will be nominated for Best Picture. This we all know. Possibly for Best Original Screenplay which has a good chance. In fact, I think it will get nominated. All for the technical awards too. We'll see what else comes out this year until I can really decide who has the best chance of winning.

Inception should win but why am a getting a Snub feeling?

Why? The year isn't over yet. And a Fincher film, an Aronofsky film, and a Coen brothers film is coming out.

Again why?

Inception is likely to get a snub because:

1. It made money

2. Regular people (i.e. not movie-snobs) actually liked it

3. It wasn't obvious Oscar bait

4. It didn't come out between October and December

5. It has been categorized as a sci-fi action film, and that's usually two strikes against a movie when it comes to the Academy

However, it COULD avoid a snub because:

1. It was praised by most critics for its tight storyline, strong acting and great direction

2. Many of the actors are previous Oscar nominees and winners (DiCaprio, Cotillard, Page, Watanabe, Caine)

3. Many people felt that Nolan deserved an Oscar nom for TDK

4. The film will almost certainly nab some technical awards and will be on people's minds even though it didn't come out in Oscar Bait Season

5. It's just a plain old fantastic movie and they'd be a**holes not to nominate it!!!!!

if she would give the same performance in a normal move that is nto based of a comicbook noone here would say that she deserves an oscar.just because you love a movie that doesnt mean that it has the best performance.

You lost me a little here. How could she give that same performance in a movie that isn't a comic book film? She was playing a superhero. If what you mean to say is that if she gave a performance of that quality in a movie that entertaining that was a straight drama or comedy, then none of us here would be campaigning for her this adamantly, then you may be right . . . but then I'd be willing to bet that the Academy would have no problem nominating her in a hot second for that hypothetical "nto based of a comicbook" film.

she was good. but the best in 2010? this is an insult.

Hardly. Honestly, who's been better so far? For my money, she's the best supporting actress of the year at this juncture, but we've yet to enter Oscar-bait season. Still, I have a hard time believing we'll have five more supporting actresses that were better than her come February.

It doesn't matter if she deserves it she will not get an oscar nom for that movie. End Of Story.

I agree, hence her continued relevance in this conversation considering the title of the thread.

I just have a gut feeling that the academy might go art house over big budget this year. I hope im wrong because Inception is the best film i have seen all year and really think it deserves the win. The Town also deserves a Nom but I'm not sure how that will do.

Guys seriously, Chloe was awesome as Hit Girl, infact I don't think you could have found a better piece of casting, the girl has got talent and if she keeps her head on straight she may have a bright future, but it wasn't a phenominal performance worthy of the highest accolades, it was fun and entertaining role in which she gave a solid performance.

so what if Scorsese casted her. she is right now the ''IT'' 12 year old girl in hollywood that knows how to act.

Remember when Martin Scorsese casted a 12-year-old to play a hooker in a little film called Taxi Driver. What was her name again? Oh, yeah. Jodie Foster. Oh, and guess what, she got an Oscar nomination.

The best lead acting performance I've seen this year is undoubtedly Cillian Murphy in Peacock. However, it is my belief that he won't even come close to being nominated.

THIS.

I thought I was the only person on this board who saw that film! Glad you agree. Unfortunately yeah, his amazing performance will probably be ignored in favor of Jesse Eisenberg playing Michael Cera again.

Your point is that its possible for Chloe Moretz to get nominated for the Scorsese pic? Or did you just compare Kick-Ass to Taxi Driver and the performances of Moretz and Foster in those 2 movies?

I remember the day's when casted wasn't considered a word.

I'm still trying to think of any possible snub that would be a bigger crime than last year's stinker of Sam Rockwell not even getting nominated for Moon.

They are only saying that because she was in a nerd flick...atleast most of them are.

Are we not all nerds in a way? I don't agree that Hit Girl is oscar nom worthy but sometimes you can have a really elitist way of talking to people.

As for oscar snubs, I'd have to see the films first that are being tipped (Kids Are Alight, Black Swan, Social Network etc etc) to be strong contenders across a number of categories I can't give an opinion.

Age really has nothing to do with it. Foster's role in Taxi Driver is a very different beast than Chloe's role in Kick-Ass. She was fantastic, obviously, but not at the level that Foster was, in my opinion. But they are two very different films despite being about vigilantes, with very different characters. So it's hard to compare really.

I sadly think that Shutter Island will be forgotten about because it was released all the way back in February. Hopefully I am very wrong, because Scorcese directed the **** outta that movie.

Chloe Moretz did a really really good job as hitgirl but oscar worthy? I don't think so. However she is obviously shaping up to be a great actress. Who knows, she may just be the next big actress a few years down the line. If anything she might get a nomination for her role in Let Me In.

The Girl With The Dragon Tatoo/ Played with fire for best foreign film.... they always pick movies we never heard of that spawn from some lame film festivals.

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is gonna get nominated. It's too popular to ignore.

that may turn out to be the reason why its not nominated lol

What is the WB pulls for The Town instead of Inception? Or will they pull for both?

I WISH The Town to get snubed. I really don't like that movie.
