Who's hoping that Spider-verse make WB take notice of DC big screen animation potential

Spider-verse is getting rave reviews. I'm hoping WB finally see the potential of their DC characters as big screen animated movies.

They already have the creative teams in place.

Who isn't? I even already have a wishlist ready of stories that I would like to see adapted as animated movies. :o

Likewise,

Kingdom Come
Red Son
Court of Owls
A League of One
DC Universe: Legacies

That's just off the top of my head...

It'd be difficult to do the likes of Kingdom Come or Red Son as an animated feature because Spider-Verse is aimed at a wide audience. I do think however, Warner Bros will consider doing animated films based on characters like Metal Men but more in the vein of something like Big Hero 6.

What could they do that they arent doing in the DTVs? That is the question

It’s not getting rave reviews just because it’s animated, and I don’t think we’d suddenly see a bunch of animated adaptions of serious stories when this does well. I’m sure WB has already considered returning to theatrical animation in some form or other, but I’d prefer they not overreact when an animated film featuring an already wildly popular character cleans up. Something to look at though, definitely.

And of course WB already gave us The Lego Batman Movie - with a sequel supposedly in early stages of development - so they're keeping an eye at least on the potential of animated CBMs.

They'd said in the past they weren't gonna do Kingdom Come until they had the budget and animation style to do Alex Ross' art justice. It's possible they could get that with a theatrical budget, though as Jonwo said, adapting Kingdom Come for a mainstream audience poses its own problems.

LEGO Batman and Teen Titans Go! to the Movies made me want to see more.
And yes, the new Spider-Man movie being a success helps be an even greater motivator.

As long as they'd stay the absolute f*** away from The Dark Knight Returns and The Death Of Superman for once, I'd be down.
I agree, I can do without seeing these adapted in bits or in full again for the umpteenth time.

This is something I’ve wanted for a long time.
I’d love some big budget animated DC movies.

I think that could be a huge hit.

Maybe that’s where Supes could be used and be a success.

Y'know, I've been thinking about this lately myself, and I don't think this would be a bad idea either.

You know what comic series would work great as an animated movie? Batgirl of Burnside.

Yeah, I can already hear people booing me, but I don't care. It would look glorious.

I'd prefer if they didn't go down the route of adaptations and just came up with new stories.
If I've already read a story I won't really be interesting in seeing a movie version that isn't quite as good.
