Whose Smarter than this Teenage?

Marvel.com says that Cable may have an intellect to rival Reed's and it may even be superhuman.
 
Marvel.com sucks short of wallpapers. He got his powers back twice. And lost em twice over the course of the 42 issues of Cable/Deapool he was in. (which was really more like 20, maybe 30. issues. As it should be.)

He died in issue 42 of Cable/Deadpool.

Blew himself up after getting his ass handed to him by Gambit and Sunfire.

Now sure, he'll probably be back, considering the book's still called Cable/Deadpool even though he's dead. (Hey, Cap's getting away with it.) But until otherwise stated, he was incinerated along with his island paradise.

To be fair, Mandarin discovered his technology. He didn't create it. Much as you've pointed out before, Kang The Conqueror discovered his technology, and thus you've used that information to try to discredit his genius. I see no difference between Kang and the Mandarin, finding their technology, and learning how to use it, and learning to create from it.

Granted, Mandarin is a little bit smarter than Kang, but Kang would still woop his ass in a fight ;-).

the top 6? Don't know about #6, but the top 5 is obvious. In fact, it's damn near stated in Heroes reborn.

I don't consider Cable being on Reed's level to hold much weight; that's a BRAND-NEW edition to the canon, that wasn't even in handbooks. As short a time as two or three years ago, Cable was recieving an above average rating for intelligence, which would put him in the intellectual company of his own parents, Nightcrawler, Wolverine, and a few others. Not to say he's dumb, but for the first 10-12 years of his existence, Cable was written as being of above average intelligence, nothing more.


For the record:

The problem with Marvel Intelligence ratings is that the only people marvel considers genius are scientists and inventors, when in fact, a lot of the greatest IQs ever recorded are those of artists, and philosophers. Marvel standards would not consider Shakespeare or Mozart geniuses, when they're every bit as brilliant as Einstein, or Newton.

Nathaniel Essex (Sinister)
High Evolutionary
The Mandarin

these twelve men, in some order are the smartest men on the planet, with Cho presumably smack dab in the middle. All other geniuses from 616 21st Century Planet Earth (Xavier, Magnus, McCoy, Forge, Connors, Warren) are just regular geniuses. The ones above are the only unchartable "Super geniuses".
 
As far as the comparison between the Mandarin and Kang, there are indeed strong parallels. They differ however in that the Mandarin found the 10 rings and had to figure out an entirely alien science of unknown origin on his own. All of the subsequent inventions such as his force field device and his androids are entirely his own work. The inventions which Kang discovered on the other hand were created by humans and there function was documented in history. Further Kang grew up a thousand years in the future in a more technologically advanced society than did the Mandarin who grew up in early 20th century China. We also don't know which if any of Kang's devices he invented himself or whether he obtained them from others. Last and not least Marvel itself has declared the Mandarin an extraordinary genius and a peer to Richards and Doom and has according to info you provided me denied even ordinary genius status to Kang both in the 90's and in the current handbook.

The High Evolutionary, the Futurist, Modok and the Leader all have intellects greater than Richards or Doom. This means that Richards is at best number 5 in the World even if you don't count Cable. Franklin Richards although a child also has been acknowledged as at least as intelligent as Reed and may be smarter by a fair margin. Banner and Stark I do not consider in the same league as the others due to the fact that they are geniuses in only one field each while so many others have made intellectual achievements in multiple fields. I regard the polymath as significantly superior. Unfortunately I seem to be alone in my opinion on this.

In the original 80s handbook, Mandarin is listed as Gifted, and Kang as a genius. So It's just about what the authors Marvel big cheese feel like.

Look at Cable; Cyclops level intelligence to Reed Richards level in the past 3 years.

btw, Franklin only has a gifted rating in the Fantastic Four handbook.


Basically Marvel needs to set up a standard.


Super Genius- Should be a very limited few. This should be people with IQs that can't be charted. People like Reed, Doom, and people mutated intellects (MODOK for example.)
Genius- Adult scientists of any kind who have found great success should at least be on this level. Doesn't matter the field; Gamma Radiation, Weaponry, Time Travel, etc.
Gifted- Unaccomplished scientists, young adults, teenagers with brilliant minds.

Thinker has a 5.
Warren isn't even a genius by the handbook; he's gifted. Though he should be listed as a genius.
MODOK I forgot, but he's almost a cheater since his intelligence is due to mutation, not genetics and the quest for knowledge.
 
Franklin even as a little kid understood the functioning of the Ultimate Nullifier in ways that Reed still doesn't. This would seem to indicate that his intelligence is at least equal to Reed's if we allow for an advantage for Franklin due to psionic perception.

Yeah, I thought that was a little off. Especially Franklin being inferior to Valeria, with all the chosen one super power mumbo jumbo attached to Franklin.
 
By what he has done at an age when he hadn't even started school, Franklin's intellect has to be way above Reed's. I've heard something about Franklin having a destiny to be King of the Celestials. If true then Franklin would have to have a godlike intelligence potential just to understand what he was king of.

Warren is just considered gifted? That's such BS I can't believe it. MODOK might be a cheater, but you could say that about Leader too, he was a moron before.

I read comics, read as many different handbooks as I could...and at certain points I winged this...and this is what I get for the 50 most intelligent in Marvel.

This list is only made of: Humans, Mutants, Mutates, and Sentient Computer life.

This list excludes: Cosmic Beings, Demons, Gods, Aliens, and alternate versions of the same man (Dark Beast, Immortus etc)

I may go to 100, and figure out the gifted break off.
 
what happend to Peter Parker. i have books where they Reed says stuff about him being as smart as he was at that age. it seems like they have been trying to dumb him down a lot lately
