Why all the hate over the flag shot?

Spider-Man is an AMERICAN hero!!!!

The movie was released internationally! what the hell do you expect them to do? Spidey was born, raised and resides in New York City...in New York state. Which is a state of the U.S.A

What the hell is the problem?

THAT THE SHOOT LOOKED REALLY, REALLY BAD :oldrazz:

seriously complaining about something like this is just...childish....seriously.

This is something that I've noticed, and I pointed it out in another thread earlier.

Traditionally (read as: In the comic books), Spider-Man isn't a character that represents "good in America" (nor does he has a "red, white and blue' costume, it's red and blue, the white's only in the eyes, and they don't really count, but whatever), Superman does. Spider-Man was intended to be the 'dark horse' of superheroes, where he's different from the "classic" definition of superheroes, but in the movies, he's the ONLY one who actually lives up to that standard. The placement of the flags in Spider-Man, and the "Truth, Justice, all that stuff" in Superman Returns shows that (in this case at least) the roles have been reversed, and Spider-Man is beloved by the public, where as Superman is no longer a symbol of the "American way".

The truly sad part is, while both changes are interesting and thought-provoking on paper, only Spider-Man's new-found adoration works, where as a depressed, moody toned Superman seemed to turn off a lot of viewers.

First of all. Superman is Canadian. He origianally flew in Toronto, and the creator is Canadian as well. So I have the right to be mad when you guys STEAL our characters. But I'm not, I have worse things in my life that my anger needs to attend to.
Second of all, everyone that has a negative attitude about the movie should shut the hell up. It's becoming a trend to criticize movies and god is ever annoying. The bottom line is, the movie didn't suck, it was written exactly like the other movies, you just exptected too much.

I'm Canadian, if anything, I SHOULD be pissed off about the flag because your President thinks that hes the Captain of the World Police, BUT im not mad. In fact, I thoroughly enjoyed Spiderman 3, and I now feel a sense of closure. I did, however, roll my eyes at the flag scene. But once the scene changed, I forgot about it. Why couldn't you?

If you have a problem with the movie call up Avi and call him an idiot and that Spiderman 3 would have been better off with only Sandman and Harry or that he shouldnt have forced Raimi to cut 1/3 of the scenes OUT of the movie. It's what I believe. But I'm not on here 24/7 *****ing about. I liked the movie, why can't you?

I really hope this anger isn't directed at me, because I liked Spider-Man 3, and while I too rolled my eyes at the flag "scene" I'm not making a big deal about it, just pointing out the reason for my eye roll.

I dont have a problem with it.Nice shot. Superman, well, they need to grow some balls and keep The American Way in the movie.Whats wrong with just a little pride. Although hes a global hero he should still represent what he believes in.

did the german trailer actually not have the flag in that shot? cause it looks like someone photoshopped it out. you can still see the blue part of the flag by the back of his head and left shoulder.

I don't get this sense of the media shoving patriotism down our throats right now. If anything it feels like the exact opposite these days.

This is stupid to fight over. The flag has been in every movie...why not the third? Sure there are a lot of things wrong with this movie but nitpicking over small stuff is stupid. There is a ton of stuff wrong with SM1 and SM2 yet no one seems to notice that stuff. All of this complaining is going way overboard.

Another sniveling Canadian heard from... Don't worry, we'll still protect our weak sister whenever there's trouble.

Superman Returns refused to say "American Way" and Spider-Man 3 made more money in 4 days then SR did in its entire run.

How's that for truth, justice and the American way?

PROUD TO BE AMERICAN.

i just saw a new commercial that advertises all the records the movie broke and this shot without the flag was included. what the hell is that all about? like i said i'm not patriotic, but advertising removing the flag? for what reason? so they don't scare off the anti-americans? it's like including the flag in that shot is shameful or something.

now argue all you want about the movie, if the sudden sight of the flag took you out of the action/moment, whatever...but a commerical has it's own context. no reason to take the flag out.

The internation version of the trailer and promos didn´t have the Flag

BTW in the Spanish version of Superman the Movie, Superman doesn´t say

"Truth, Justice and the American way"
but:

"I´m here to fight for Truth and Justice for all the countries of the world"

actually to me, leaving any patrotish remark, and not thinking where superman is from (He is Kryptonian BTW:woot: :oldrazz: ) that sounds more Supermanish

Don´t think where Superman lives, but what he stands for, and what he represents

Because I'm sick of American patriotism.

^Well when they push out a Finnish superhero movie and they show the Finland flag in a shot...I will complain. Patriotism...yea we all hate it........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Didn't Superman 2 end with an american flag scene? There's your answer. Raimi didn't use it in the SM2 so he used in the SM3.

by inputting the american flag, its almost like having an american joe going "see i helped made spiderman to be this great icon", it doesnt allow viewers from other countries to like him just as equally because theyre not americans. spidey should be an international hero not a hero with a passport.

I liked the shot when I first saw it in the trailer but I think its also there because thats the first time people see Spidey in his red and blues again.

The flag was unnecessary, especially since not every Spidey fan is American.
It seemed so out of place, but I couldn't care less for it. Have Captain America pop up behind him saying "This is for Thomas Jefferson!" for all I care.
