The Amazing Spider-Man Why Can't Marvel Get the Rights Back for Spidey?

I'd rather see Spidey be at Disney than Sony. At least Disney lets their filmmakers experiment.

Though it's a ****** place to work at as an artist.

Personally, I trust Disney more with Spider-Man than I do with Marvel or Sony.

I dont or other wise we would have the 90s animated series on season or volume sets in 2002 when the first Spiderman movie came out.

The first X-Men movie came out in 2000 and the 90s animated series was just released on dvd last year.

disney merely owns Marvel. Marvel still owns Spiderman. if Marvel is sold to WB by Disney next tuesday, Spidey goes packing with it.

Well this is kind of another reason I liked the fact that Spidey was delayed, now Thor wont have to compete with it. Which means more people seeing Thor and generating more interest in the Avengers especially with Cap America only a few months after Thor.

Exactly... Marvel and Paramount probably drank it up once Spidey made the move out of 2011. I don't see a reboot having a chance against Avengers and BB3. It will still make decent money but no where near the previous films, unless it's the first 3-D superhero film and all.

If Disney was smart they should already have their lawyers looking at the contracts & deals previously made & looking for loop holes to force Sony to make a movie or give us the rights back. That is what Disney should be doing & I hope they are. At the very least have their lawyers look into everything

They probably did that before the acquisition was even made. I think we will here something regarding a lawsuit before the next Spidey film is even made. I'll be shocked if we don't here anything regarding FF/DD in the near future as far as those properties reverting back.

I can just imagine the Disney guys dancing & celebrating when they heard this news. Now is the time to strike if they are serious about getting the rights back

I am sure Sony will get the film done in the alotted time that was stipulated in the paper work. There is probably nothing in the contract that states that all the films need to be in congruence with one another as sequels/prequels and such either. But to my understanding, the deal was for six films. Anything beyond that means a new deal, or forking over even more cash. Yet Sony wants to go back to high school and focus and the younger years when the first three essentially did that already. Doesn't make a lot of sense, but hopefully it works out.
