why did you start reading comics?

Back when I lived in England my dad used to bring me back toys when he traveled to America. One time when he was coming home he forgot to bring me a toy, so he picked up five comics titles that he recognized from when he was a kid. After that I asked only for comic books, and then when my Dads job brought us to America, my parents convinced me to be ok with the move by telling me comics were more readily available in America. Since then I've been hooked.

How come so many people's uncles like comics?

That's a really good question... Age perhaps, many of our uncles may have grown up during the Golden Age of Comics and started reading them then, and they just never stopped

When I was younger I picked up some comics like Spider-Man and Batman and X-Men. After a while I got tired of it,and then Spider-Man the movie came out and I got interested again.

Blade #1 my first ever comic. My mom bought this for me after I begged and begged.
I wanted it because the cover looked cool and it was issue one so I didnt have to worry about not understanding any of the history.
After that my sister would buy me a comic for my birthday and xmas, because they were cheap, so she could buy me a comic with the 20 bucks she was given to get me a gift and keep ALL the change......my sister is cheap...

I don't remember if I ever read any of the comics I've bought over the years, mostly I just collected what i felt would be rare down the road. For example the Wedding of Cyclops and Jean Grey, Sabertooth #1, Venom # 1, the list goes on.

i loved superman and batman as a kid and had a few that my dad got me around the time when superman died and batman became a cripple, but i started to buy x men and spiderman because of the cartoons. Grew up, still watching the movies, and tv shows but never bought comics. went to highschool, graduated, took a year off between college and i was working until i was laid off right after i graduated because of teh construction going on for 8 months infron of the store, we had no customers because it was hard fo rthem to come in, so i spent all my free time at the mall with my buddies when they were off, one day i walked into game stop and saw a kingdom come superman action figure that intreaged me. Looked it up online and when i got another job after a few weeks i bought the tpb, along with other alex ross books. Been back to DC ever since.

Because I was lonely!!Yes I was lonely!!And back then all I needed was someone to talk to....someone to hold!!!And comic books were the only things that could do that to me.I felt like I could talk to them tell them anything!!They were my heroes and they made me find out WHO I REALLY AM!!!!They taught me about the world and of acceptance and how I can never run away from myself except if myself runs away from me.If it wasnt for comics I wouldve jumped off a building or commit suicide for some strange reason
....they saved my life.That was why I read comics!

When I started getting into the Spidey show on Fox, I would look at the comics my mom still has in these two boxes, filled with pretty much Spider-man, and other titles. Even though Batman was the first comic character I liked, I only knew him from the '89 film and cartoon. And I didn't even read them for a long time, I just loved the pictures.
