Compared to other heavy hitters like Spiderman 3, Dead Man's Chest, Revenge of the fallen, IJ4, the dark knight fell behind.

Why is that ? Is it because of it's dark and serious nature ? Or is Batman simply not as popular overseas ?

It even flopped in places like Japan.

Batman is very popular in South America.

What can I say? I'm amazed that TDK even made that much. For all I know peop0le can give their money to any piece of crap that's full of CGI, so it's always a pleasant surprise that a truly good movie such as this is a BO hit.

Word.

The previous top international gross for a batman film was begins with 167 million and before that batman with 160 million. TDK made 468 million internationally, so for a batman film it did quite well overseas. But as you can tell batman has never been a huge international sensation before really.

The Bond franchise will be a bigger box office draw than any Batman film on the international circuit.

I'm surprised by this as well. With so many international elements involved in the film (Nolan, Bale, Ledger, Oldman, Caine), I assume it would get more attention internationally. It still did well, but it's an interesting question to ask..

It is weird indeed. Since it was most talked movie of the summer and whatnot.

That is because it wasn't released in China.

Because it's too badass for anyone but people in the western hemisphere. They can't handle it. Sad really.

That is because it wasn't released in China.

Only a handful of western films are officially allowed in China. It doesn't make sense that China should make up the difference.

I thought it did very well over here in the Philippines. People loved it.
