Homecoming Why does Marvel not want Garfield?

I'll see your no and raise you an

Anrew Garfield is going to be fine, isn't he going to be in a Mel Gibson movie and a Martin Scorsese movie too.

Because the TASM movies were terrible and Marvel wants to distance themselves from them?

And considering the level of talent, Marvel would presumably hold on to the casts of Fantastic Four and X-Men if they reach a similar deal with Fox. That and Fox makes better movies than Sony.

Fox has the same exact amount of superheromovie duds than Sony when you count them. And X-men 1 & Spider-man 1 are tied for "classics that are ok"

I guess Fox wins by 3 excellent X-men movies to 1 Spider-man 2 (not even counting the second Wolverine movie which is arguable)

Fox has more hits than Sony does and has been making better films as of late while Sony has been struggling. And I still love the first X-Men and Spider-Man films.

Good Fox CBMs - X-Men, X2, X-Men First Class, The Wolverine, X-Men DOFP

Good Sony CBMs - Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2

The last good Sony CBM was made 11 years ago. In the meantime we've gotten nothing but the last three Spider-Man films and both Ghost Rider movies.

I wish they would use Garfield again, as much as I am happy that spiderman is joining the marvel universe, It it ridiculous rebooting again so soon!

Why would they even want Andrew Garfield?

- He is connected to the terrible TASM movies which are not part of the MCU
- He is already over 30 years old
- He was not a good Peter Parker.
- Rebooting a character using the same actor from the previously failed series is just a big no no.

What matters is he can play the role. I'm so pissed. I'm so disapointed. This is the biggest mistake Marvel has ever done. Was it because The Amazing Spider-Man 2 didn't make as much money as they wanted? These effing idiots! 700 million world wide? That's still good money and that's more than Man of Steel made!

Garfield still looks young. They can make enough movies before he starts to look too old.

People were getting so exicted for the next installment and I was enjoying the world they were just building with Rhino, Electro and so on nd the Sinister Six. Don't eff this up.

I mean what is so wrong? Garfield expresed his interest being in The Avengers. People hate reboots. What's more is that you're going to debut Spider-Man in Captain America, and then be forced to do another origin solo film later on.

I mean a new suit, one they could probably make look really bad. So don't reboot this Spider-Man.

Just because TAS2 didn't make as much money as previous films, audiences still liked it and went to see the movie and many have agreed that it is the best of all Spider-Man films!

They can be more successful by bringing Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Cap 3, Avengers and then The Amazing Spider-Man 3! Please just let it be like this.

God I want fire whoever made this desicion!

This is just as bad as the idea that Daniel Radcliffe might have been replaced for Harry Potter 5 which thankfully, didn't happen.

Please do not let Andrew Garfield be replaced. For God's sake.

To answer this question.

Because he stutters too much. If he didn't, then things might have been different.

It's a shame. The only people I've heard bash the ASM series were Internet critics. They were refreshingly well done. Well, TASM 2 was a little directionless at times, but not bad enough to kill a franchise. I think it's deal is more to take advantage of being associated with the Avengers than a rejection of the TASM series. I'll miss the high quality acting in those two, and I was really excited to see where they were taking it.

But I guess it's time for yet another origin story and probably yet another Goblin.

Same reason an escort doesn't want the herp: it would affect their business in a negative way.

We're not getting another origin story.

Tobey: Hey Andrew, I know you're feeling screwed right now, but here's something to put it all in perspective: I wanted to tell you that Emma's great in bed! :oldrazz:

It'd be pretty cool if Marvel cast Andrew Garfield in a different role in the MCU now that he's no longer Spider-Man.

Reportedly he was offered the chance to return but turned it down.

http://www.denofgeek.com/movies/spi...rfield-opted-not-to-return-to-spider-man-role

"Garfield had talks with regards carrying on as Spider-Man, "but ultimately it didn't make sense to keep him for what will be a new chapter for Spider-Man".

Garfield chose to opt out because he thought it didn't make sense for him to continue as a new Spider-Man? This article is asking us to believe he chose to not be a part of the mega successful MCU? Yeah right. More like he was let go because they want new younger blood like they've been saying. Is there any other sources reporting this news?

Is Garfield really claiming that Marvel along with Sony offered him the part again, and he was the one who had more common sense to turn it down?

Yes Garfield opted not to come back the same way Brandon Routh opted not to play Superman again. :whatever:

Do I look look a ****ing idiot? Does my head screw off and on? So Garfield's people leaked this ridiculous story to the media to try and save face. I like Garfield but no, nobody in their right mind believes this story.

I needed that laugh after reading depressing news stories.

I'm sure Avi Arad will also claim that he chose to take an executive producer position this time instead of producer credit.

I am curious why Marvel is so against using Garfield and of his version? Garfield is a pretty big name actor and this way you avoid having to do another reboot. Also, nothing in the either the 2 movies was so out of whack that it wouldn't fit into the Marvelverse.

I do not follow Marvel comics....So if any fans out there want to correct me. I would be interested to hear it

They have to distance themselves from what is perceived as a failure of a franchise. You can't bring the lead actor back and say this is our new Spiderman. Does that make sense?

Everyone, say what you will about The Amazing Spiderman movies, but Garfield and Stone were easily the best thing about those films, much better than Maguire and Dunst. Sure the ASM films were obviously flawed, but I can point out so many scenes with Garfiled that I loved so much more than anything Maguire did in the SM triology. Besides why does Marvel insist sooo much with having Peter in high school?! They are obsessed with pulling Spiderman back in time, I'm getting so sick of it. Making the ultimate line of comics, having him back in HS, retconning his marriage to MJ just to make him single again, making the SSM cartoon (although it was good) and USM cartoon (still in HS), now Miles Morales (teen Spidey again)...spiderman has been around for over 50 years, what's up with keeping him a high school teenager?
I don't know about everyone else but I've enjoyed a "more seasoned" Spidey, who grew from being a nerdy teen in HS, to being a humbled yet flawed hero...it showed his natural progression through life, just as any normal person grows. To keep throwing him "back in time" is getting rather redundant. Now that we've already rebooted Spidey once in the movies, I am getting tired of Spidey being remade.
Garfiled is a great actor and his portrayal of PP/SM was great for 2 flawed/very flawed movies. People accepted that Evans was Johnny Storm before he portrayed Cap, why wouldn't audiences accept Garfield being thrown in the MCU, although Sony and Marvels movies have zero continuity? At the very least I'd like to see that continuity of Garfield remaining to be Spidey.
I love that Spidey can now cross over and be in the MCU, but I'm angry that Marvel wants to recast Spidey. Can at least one Spidey actor get closure for once and see him all the way thru til his particular story arc comes to a close?

It is basically saying, 'You can't fire me! I quit!'

I do feel bad for Garfield though. I think he did a great job as Spidey, even if the movies themselves had issues.

I understand why Marvel wants to start fresh, though I don't really think we need to see Peter in high school again.
