Why doesn't the black suit in 3 look like the black suit in the comics?

I realize that the Spider on the black suit in 3 is different and slightly larger than on the original suit, but it should be more dominant, and resembling more of the look from the comics.

Cause Raimi said so. lol, jk jk, I like this one better

I actually like the look of the new one. It's original but still stays true to the concept, unlike the Green Goblin II outfit. It makes sense that the symbiote would adapt like that rather than making the outfit plain black and a bit of white.

Its in the movie, because

A. It makes more sense

and

B. They are lazy.

Lol, how does that make them lazy?

it makes more scence for the suit to look like this, all the symbiote has to do is lay itself on and blend into the costume just making it black.

i like it too.

i also think it might be to show a difference between symbiote spidey and venom. in the comics they look very similar except from venom being larger and obviously having the teeth. Things like that dont matter as much in comics but in films its different. People who dont know the history of spider-man or people watching it for the first time could be confused.

Also, the comic suit has no textural definition to it, which makes it a ***** to light, especially because its almost entirely black. I thought I heard somewhere that the comic costume's look didn't translate well when they did wardrobe tests and that cg'd versions of spidey wearing it looked too fake. And yes, it is to create a futher distinction between Venom and Spidey so that average moviegoers aren't confused.

Because if he were all black then he would be hard to see in dark shots. But the webbing makes it easier to see.

Lazy? They completely re-designed the new suit. It may look like the old one at first sight, but it's actually amazing. The black fabric has a wet look that is just visually stunning, the brick pattern has been completely re-done and is now raised and almost metallic, the webbing is a new color and the spiders are all new. Lazy? Not even close.

^ i agree with everything but i think the webbing is the same as the sm2 webing, the silver color just looks more visable cuz its on top of black.

I think the black suit is great...better than the comics.

It is a slightly different shade, and the sides aren't black like the SM2 suit.

New suit = new merchandise

That doesn't make any sense. Even if they kept the black suit identical to the comics, they would still make black suit toys.

Their in the movie because they dont give a **** about the fans. Plus, it won't make sense when Venom get's the costume. DO you honestly want Venom to wear the costume that Spidey wears in the film.

Yeah, but Sony can claim to have an original idea, I'm not sure, but maybe they won't have to share with Marvel.

My guess they wanted to differ from Venom and Spider-Man. Both have a black suit and giant white spider on the front. This was the easiest way to do it and for the simpleminded folk who don't read comics and just see the movies will recognize the difference.

Oh well...the black suit doesn't bother me at all compared to GG II's suit. That was just laziness and procrastination put in. He looks like he's wearing a green gas mask flying a jet-powered snowboard.

They ****ed up on all the costumes, sans Sandman, and Spidey's blue and reds.

^ its soposed to look like that, theres a reason to why he wares that, who knows he may get a new costume twards the end

I think I got a good explanation:

The symbiote grants any appearance to it's wearer right? Spider-Man wanted to show his enemies that he had changed and had gotten much much more stronger. But he also wanted to look friendly and familiar to New York city.

Yes, but there's already plenty of symbiot Spidey stuff that sony (and other partners like burger king) don't get a dime from. Why whip the kids up into a frenzy for someone else's products?

I'm not trying to say marketing was the biggest or most important factor, but you'd be kidding yourself to think that it wasn't a factor at all.

My worry is not the suit itself but how will it translate to the cgi black spidey, because it looks black in all the shots of the trailer but then in the final shot of cgi spidey upside down the face close-up looks like if the mask was grey instead of black. Can you guys tell me what do you think about about that? Maybe is the lighting I would guess.

c.Its cheaper

d.why make tobey wear an entirly blue(or green) suit when he could just wear the one hes used to.

Also keep in mind that Venom is likely going to be much slimmer than what were used to in the comics due to Tophers size. If they had a huge guy playing Brock, it wouldn't be as much of an issue but considering Tobey and Topher are very similar in build, the comic black costume and Venom would probably look almost identical other than details like the teeth and tongue. They needed to differentiate them more. We've heard Venom gets the big white spider, and if the details like veins that we've heard of are on the costume, I think I'd be OK with it as long as it looks good.
