It doesn't make any sense to do that. We haven't even been introduced to Ultron and now we're getting a film about him? The whole time we're going to be thinking about Thanos.

I think Thanos will be in Guardians of the Galaxy and will be the main villain in the third film, so the big end villain of the trilogy.

Because we're not ready for him yet, Marvel Studios movies are building up to Avengers 3, the Tesseract from Captain America/Avengers and the Aether from Thor the Dark World are 2 infinity stones/gems from a collection of 6. Pretty sure we will see a 3rd in Guardians of the Galaxy, then I imagine the other 3 will be introduced in future movies.
When all 6 are together and placed in the Infinity Gauntlet (a glove like thing), the wearer of said Gauntlet is granted crazy God like powers, and Thanos wants this power.

Marvel isn't rushing anything and they're telling a story at a nice pace. When Avengers 3 is out and you see all 6 infinity stones/gems together, you'll remember them from each Marvel movie and be like 'I see what they did there'.

Besides Ultron is an awesome character and villain, I can't wait for Avengers 2.

Marvel does things the right way, they introduce epic characters then slowly build anticipation and drop nuggets of gold here and there for fans. if this was DC theyd put Thanos in Avengers 2 and have him try to blow up the Earth with a terraforming machine or some BS.

Ultron is one of the best villains in the Marvel Universe. Get ready to be thrilled by him.

Thanos will no doubt be in Avengers 3.

I'd imagine the things he does in GotG carries over into Avengers 3. We'll probably see some sort of post-credits scene of Thanos in Avengers 2, at least I think we will.

As a lifelong Marvel fan, I knew that Thanos was introduced so that Joss could eventually pull off the Infinity Gauntlet story. The thing about that story, is that there's a lot of build up to it with Thanos getting his hands on the 6 infinity gems. It makes sense for the process to be happening in the background (if not also in the foreground in GOTG), and for it to reach it's climax in Avengers 3. I'm happy with how the stories are playing out.

Because:

1. He's going to be in GOTG.
2. He's being set up to be the ultimate threat in the MCU. Showing him pulling Loki's strings in Avengers (and Ronan/Nebula's in GOTG) helps sell that idea.
and
3. He's almost certainly going to be in Avengers 3.

My only question about ol Thanny is, who will they get to replace him as a major baddie after the big battle with the heroes? Theyre not gonna stop the MCU after Avengers 3.

Kang, Hulk, MoE, Civil War (not the same story just have the characters oppose each other).

Not inconceivable that they could make a new character, nor do they have to keep going bigger and bigger

Am I the only one who thinks Civil War will only work if you manage to have a huge cast? I think the cast would need to be so huge that you couldn't make a movie around it.

Why make a whole new thread for one question...

Teasing an eventual Thanos appearance was a stroke of genius.

It builds anticipation for the entire phase one/phase two/phase three combination rather than just a single phase.

Think about it. Is it better to let anticipation build for two years or six long years?

Plus if you use the biggest bad there is for Avengers 2... whoever you use for Avengers 3 will be a step down.

Save the best for last. Go out with a bang.

Well, you could have a couple of the films in the phase prior to the Avengers film include the storyline. I don't think the comic story would work in a film no. But they could have their own version somehow.

I expect to see some Thanos influence in AOU, or at least in the credits.

They probably haven't thought of a story arc beyond phase 3. I would think one of the biggest colossal threats would be the coming of Galactus but that hinders on character rights. But we are talking 7 or 8 or more years from now.

Theyve got projects mapped out til 2028. Thats way beyond A3.

The scepter is a direct line to Thanos and or The Other as we saw in A1. Id assume that after Loki dropping the ball on his big takeover, losing the Tesseract, T-Man will be looking for a new ally to help him on Earth.

Sure they have big screen and small screen project outlines but they haven't created concrete story ideas beyond phase 3 which would likely end in 2018 or 19 with Avengers 3. They would like to see how other properties which could revert back like FF and all the supporting players could play in those phases. Galactus could be done with the same formula as Thanos. Build him slowly while establishing other Marvel heroes adaptations.

Im not really expecting MCU to include those other properties. I doubt theyll try to reboot FF again even if they get the rights. Itll be all new franchises. But hey, who knows?

Masters of Evil, Kang

Pointless thread is extremely pointless. God damn.

Some people dont understand what Thanos is doing in the MCU. They think because he was introduced in A1 he has to be the main villain in the sequel.
