It makes up for the complete and utter misuse on Wolverine being a jobber in your own words on X-men Evolution.
But, see, I hated that in X-MEN EVOLUTION as well. Logan got his rear kicked nearly every fight until maybe the middle of Season 3, when he beat the only mutant who has jobbed more than him in that show, Colossus. Rogue was clearly the most dangerous character in that show; she could drop even Magneto with ease.
I hate that kind of thing no matter who it is or where. There are better ways to write characters without being that blatant. As cool as Batman usually was in JUSTICE LEAGUE or JLU, sometimes that sort of thing happened there, too, and it was annoying.
Cyclops doesn't need to be a jobber to make Wolverine look good, just as Wolverine doesn't have to be a jobber to make Cyclops look good. One can write both as being different but cool in their own ways without resorting to jobbing. That is the point I was trying to make.
It hasn't ruined WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN, after all. I mean, sometimes in SPIDER-MAN AND HIS AMAZING FRIENDS, hey, the Amazing Friends would job to Spidey. It happens. But the dilemma is that being unable to nail these nuances keep W&TXM trapped in the good, but not great category. At least by episode 17 as a whole. We have another 8 episodes to go. Maybe some of these issues improve.
The entire X-Men doesn't have to lose to canon fodder just so Logan can be awesome, is what I am saying. Just as Logan wouldn't need to, say, lose to the Blob to make Rogue look awesome.
