Why isn't there a town or city district devoted to fanboy culture?

I dunno, I'm a fan of the drinking and argumets myself... I assume that would still happen?

Imagine Batman and Hulk fans meeting in actual reality, and letting those arguments play out in the streets. It would be worse than Iraq, except now you'd be dying around 72 virgins, instead of waking up in Heaven to them.

lol

"Little Fanboytown".

I think the real issue is this: Based on my experience, fanboys have some serious issues compromising. It wouldn't be a particularly well-run town.

Are referring to fanboys on the internet?

If not what are some real world examples of fanboys not being able to compromise?

comic con is a once a year celebration, not an every day thing. of course people get along

What's the worst that can happen?

Is a Nolan fan going to shoot a Raimi fan in the face for saying Spider-man 2 is better than TDK?

There are plenty of districts populated with criminals. Why would a fanboy district be any worse?

I don't think I would like a city or town dedicated to fanboy culture. I love my comics, movies and games, but when every is into it, it would become kinda annoying.

Why would you be against at least one being created as an experiment?

You don't HAVE to live there and you never know...

you might like it.

... do people create parts of town out of social experiments? like i said this all just sounds like dreams and wishful thinking. Not real world logic

plus imo a huge part of the fun of a Con is the celebs, and new news... which would be non-existent in this fictional world.

What?

How do you know that?

There could be events, art studios, speeches, movie premiers, book signings, promotional tours...

The reasons for celebrities to show up are endless.

Businesses will have their reasons and I will have mine.

Different motives often co-exist for major projects.

That sounds like hell... I'm against this idea.

How do you think some of us feel about the typical corporate landscape which looks almost identical nationwide?

What kind of establishments would a block contain in your version of the fanboy district?

not on a daily or even weekly basis....

If it's near Chicago, LA, Austin or NY there will be a constant traffic of celebs promoting books, tv shows, movies, website, video games, music, magazines, comics.

New things need promotion every day.

What would the indie comics scene be like? It's something I'm enjoying at the moment with random comics I find at cons being some of the most fun things. I assume the market would be flooded with the damn things and most of them utter crap?

I'd settle for just going to a good con... anyone know if there are any good ones in the UK? Or am I just gonna have to make it one of my life long dreams to go to SDCC?

There's Mark Millar's KAPOW comics convention

There's also a yearly comic converntion in my country-Holland, which is supposedly the biggest in Europe.

Why do some people think a fanboy district would be comic con 24/7?

The Village and The Castro district aren't a 24 hour gay pride parade.

The truth is no one knows what ideas, concepts. and establishments would develop in a fanboy district socially and creatively.

Well, there's Kapow in London, but that's over with. You have Thought Bubble in Leeds coming up in November, that's all kinds of fun. There's also a few smaller ones like Glasgow comic con at the end of the month or one called Megacon in a place called Carlisle in August.

There's also MCM expos dotted around in Manchester and London, but those aren't as comic related. And there was London Super ComicCon back in February that got Stan Lee over...

So yeh, Google them up.

I will do. Once I'm living in Bristol it'll be a lot easier to get places. We don't even have a bloody train station for 20 miles.

Well, unless you count the steam train that doesn't connect to the actual station at all

The closest I've ever been to such a place is Universal Studios Island of Adventure

I'd be willing to live here.

Yes, and to help me get around this happy town, I want one of those cool hover boards that Marty McFly rocked in the Back to the Future II. Traveling in style, baby!!!

I dunno, I mean a weekend at a con every so often is fun, but like a full week? I think most people would enjoy it for 2/3 days then go utterly insane.

Point taken

Not impossible to happen

I highly suggest Thought Bubble. It was littereally two days of drinking and comics. I've never had so much fun in my life. I got to see Andy Diggle smash beer bottles outside a big posh hotel, and met someone else who liked The Cape. So much fun.
