Why, oh, why does Splinter STILL not look like a rat?

Apart from the LA movies, this guy has looked like everything from a dog to a fox to a wolf-now he looks like a friggin' lion. How hard is it to animate a rat?

I know, it really bugs me. Splinter always looks like some weird mutated dog thing, nothing like a rat. You'd think with CGI they'd be able to do a decent job, but no.
