Why, oh, why does Splinter STILL not look like a rat?

He looks like a highly stylized, mutated rat, the same way the Turtles look like highly-stylized, mutated turtles.

Apart from the LA movies, this guy has looked like everything from a dog to a fox to a wolf-now he looks like a friggin' lion. How hard is it to animate a rat?

In truth it appears to be an attempt to match the look of the comic. Which mind you still doesn't quite look like a rat.

Yeah, he died in late 2004, if memory serves.

While doing peaceful things, such as feeding the birds and what not, he ended up dying of a heart attack

They took it pretty well, actually. I mean, he WAS the closest thing to a father they had, and now they're even MORE alone, since, well, it's not like 4-foot walking turtles is something you can catch on a safari. But, I think how he died gave them some peace.
