Why so much hate for The Incredible Hulk

I also like TIH. At least he didn't look like Shrek on steroids like Ang Lee's. And I loved the glowing green gamma eyes.

Physically I feel the hulk's appearance in TIH was even better than Avengers. TIH hulk was a little less obnoxious green and built of solid muscle. Where Avengers Hulk focused on making him look like Ruffalo so he ended up flabby and chest hairy and quite apish, ape-ish.

Bana Hulk = Shrek on steroids
Norton Hulk = Irradiated powerhouse
Ruffalo Hulk = Green gorilla

Unfortunately, as many have stated. Hulk has yet to be done justice in ANY film for his personality or relationship with/hatred for Banner. :hulk:

Had some cool action scenes. And Abomination! But that's kinda it... :\

Basically I thought TIH was bland all around, acting, script, CGI etc.

It wasn't a great adaption of the comics and it didn't really try to be anything other than a big screen version of the 70s tv show.

At least Ang's film tried to explore the complexity of the character, which is a hell of a lot more than I can say about TIH.

A poster hit in on the head, TIH had what AngHulk was missing and vice versa. TIH didn't draw me into the characters and didn't tell an interesting story. It had some great ideas but didn't bring them all together.

AngHulk actually did justice to Hulk and Banner's relationship, imho, and did Hulk's powers and power level much better, it just had incredibly weak villains, a bit too light of a tone (due to the weak villains) and a bad finale... due to the weak villains. Hmm... honestly, if it had been Abomination in AngHulk with the same take on that final battle as we had on the Hulk vs The Army I think we'd have had gold. Lord forbid if SuperBlonsky had been party of Hulk vs the Army or there had been a third earlier fight scene. Whew. Craziness.

Personally, I thought it was a really good movie.

So AngHulk is getting some pretty positive feedback on this thread. I must say that thoroughly surprises me.

Therefore I'm about to watch AngHulk again. I was probably 16 last time I watched it (a long time ago) so maybe I'll come back with a clearer opinion of the film.

Boring and odd are the first words that come to mind...

Visually, nearly everything is better in TIH and Avengers. But that's to be expected as it is older so I don't blame the film. But its lack of a central villain also takes away from the experience. That stupid poodle. D: Hulk was too powerful in Ang's. He is basically immortal.

The wind flowing through his Hulk hair while he leaps for miles and miles is just so goofy. I think there's one moment where the camera focuses on some desert mold... And I suppose I don't need to bring up the final "fight" scene.

Connelly is a decent Betty, Bana a decent Bruce, but not as likable as Norton or Ruffalo. I do want to like the hero of a story. The rest of the acting is fine, but imho no better or worse than TIH.

I still don't like the movie and I still feel TIH is much, much better.

For me The Incredible Hulk Is best solo film and the best 616 Hulk version on screen.

Edward Norton Is closes we have gotten to 616 banner.Sorry but Mark Ruffalo Is too much David Banner from TV show for my taste. And In Avengers I hated him having control of hulk.

Noone will defend casting Liv Tyler as Betty.I liked William Hurt as Rose.Straight out from Comics.

I liked having Lou Ferangro doing hulk's voice.

The Hulk VS army In ang Lee's version Is only thing that can be called better than TIH.

I love TIH. It gave us man on the run, Thunderclap, Hulk Smash, Car-boxing gloves, Sterns, and a very good Banner.
I rate the MCU movies like this:
-Avengers
-TIH
-IM
-Cap
-Thor
-IM2

HA !!! I thought I was the only one who thought Ruffalo's Hulk looked like a gorilla. Norton's will always be my favorite.

It was the beating of the chest that threw me over the edge. Why they went that direction I will never know.

I dont mind him beating of the chest, I hated the fact that he was standing with his knuckes when he was watching stark at the end

Part of the reason there's a lot of "hate' for THE INCREDIBLE HULK is that a lot of fanboys either have to love or hate something. There's rarely a middle ground. THE INCREDIBLE HULK isn't great enough for most of them to love, so they hate it. That's been my experience at least.

Its really a shame. Its such an awesome film.

I liked The Incredible Hulk. I thought it was way better than the 2003 Hulk film simply because I definitely enjoyed it.

I Thought it was way better than Hulk. Though, I liked Jennifer Connelly WAY more than liv tyler.

i loved it.

i stare a hole in anyone who tells me they didn't like it, and then move on.

Norton was perfect.
Ruffalo was good.

So I wasn't around the SHH forums when the movie was released so I probably missed a lot. But after delving into all your opinions I find so much hate for this film.

What on earth is the issue?

I'm not asking why it didnt do well in the box office or why the common folk didnt enjoy it, but why YOU the fans didn't like it. No need to bring up Ang Lee's Hulk (which I thought was a disgrace) or Mark Ruffalo's Hulk (who I thought was fantastic). In my opinion it is the best solo MCU film. Great acting, script, action and effects. Great villain, hot Betty Ross, good subtle Avengers tie-ins.

I won't argue your points unless you ask me to, I just need to know why its so "bad."

I wanted more action (because it's Hulk smashing things!) but it is easily my favorite solo Avengers movie (Iron Man was close but didn't have enough action either). Norton did well but felt another actor could've brought more to the role. The CGI (especially the infamous campus scene) is a little weird NOW but when I first saw the movie I was thrilled. Loved the story, dialogue, and supporting characters... just needed MORE Hulk action!

I simply cannot agree with the "great villain" bit. Blonsky had no personality and no characterization, and Ross was exactly the same as every other General Ripper that has ever existed. If anything hurt TIH, it was lack of anything resembling a decent villain.

Put simply, "Someone the Hulk can punch" does not a great villain make.
