Age of Ultron Will Hawkeye Still be a Part of SHIELD in AoU?

Let me turn that around:

[BLACKOUT]So you find out the organization you've dedicated years of your life to serving, in order to protect humanity, has been infiltrated by Hydra, you. . . abandon it, rather than fight to clean it out?
[/BLACKOUT]

How much work can a lowly field agent do to fight corruption at the top? I find it easier to believe the scenario where a field agent becomes disillusioned with his corrupt superiors and quits the force, than the scenario where a field agent thinks he can fix things at the top of the food chain.

Look at Cap in the comics....when he found out the Secret Empire was running Washington during the Nixon years, he didn't stick around to fight the corruption, he just flat-out quit. Threw away the shield, the costume, the stars and stripes and all that jazz and became Nomad. And I'm pretty sure we'll see some sort of nod to that story arc in CATWS, with Steve renouncing his job, his agency, his superiors and his government.

Someone needs to make a Hawkeye thread :o we know he's going to be in AOU

I guess this could be the Hawkeye thread, lol.

He wouldn't abandon it. If he left SHIELD he would still be a hero; a hero fighting to stop [BLACKOUT]HYDRA[/BLACKOUT]. That's common sense. Sorry but I just don't see how your situation would make sense given what we know about Cap 2.

I don't even need to read the rest; you start with a wildly false premise. Hawkeye is not a "lowly field agent." He's one of the SHIELD's elite, the guy Fury calls out when he needs a personal doom squad.

Its called "cleaning stuff up" rather than "killing it." Abandoning SHIELD only makes sense if you take the position that it shouldn't have existed in the first place.

There are reports that Renner could return for Mission Impossible 5. Not sure how that would affect his role in Age of Ultron since MI5 is scheduled to shoot in February.

But he's still a field agent. How much impact can someone low on the hierarchy have on the movers and shakers up top?

Well, for starters, he could show up outside the rooms that have the Hydra types or whatever in them, use a tape recorder arrow he stole from Ollie Queen to get the goods on them, then swing into the room and kick and/or shoot everyone's asses. Since, you know, that's the kind of thing he *does*. Its his *job*.

Or he can just kill most of them immediately, then interrogate the one survivor for information, and then kill him to.

Well, he *could*, sure. I'd be inclined to leave as many surviving prisoners as possible, though. When fighting infiltrators, you want as many people alive to be interrogated for confirmation by *other* people as you can.

Well, out of curiosity, was the cameo in Thor 2 that well hidden so when it did happen, we were truly surprised, or did people already get wind of that, because, perhaps there will be a Hawkeye appearance in CATWS, they're just that good at keeping it hidden.

???

There was no Hawkeye cameo in Thor 2, nor do I recall any credible rumors of such.

I never said there was. I just said that the cameo that was in Thor 2,[BLACKOUT] Chris Evans bit, was a surprise for me[/BLACKOUT], and that perhaps the film makers kept it so well hidden, that they might try to do the same with Hawkeye, that is, if he's in it. He probably isn't, but we never know with these movies. I don't recall Hawkeye's appearance in Thor 1 being in the rumor mill until after the movie was released. And, due to the fact that they don't show the casting credits until after the movie, there is a chance he might have a cameo in CA2. Now, if the rumors are true, I am definitely expecting to see[BLACKOUT] Thor somewhere in CATWS, even though we haven't seen no footage or heard anything other than that both Chris's[/BLACKOUT] are going to try and be in eachother's Avengers related movies from here on out.

I still think I'm misreading you. So, your talking about the possibility of a Hawkeye and/or Thor cameo in Cap 2, *not* a Hawkeye cameo in Thor 2?

Hawkeye killed a lot of SHIELD agents and nearly destroyed the Helicarrier.
Doesn't matter that he was under mind control at the time; that's like trying to plead innocence for committing a slew of heinous murders while you were stoned, drunk, and/or insane. In the view of the courts, he's still guilty as sin.

No. That's not true at all.

If the courts deem that you committed a crime because you were insane (which is a legal term), then that means that you're not guilty. That's why it's called pleading not guilty for reasons of insanity. You don't go to prison and it doesn't go on your criminal record. You'll probably be committed to a psychiatric hospital, but that's not the same thing as a prison sentence and it doesn't mean that the state deemed you to have been responsible for your actions. You'd be released as soon as the doctors say you're mentally healthy.

Stoned and drunk are different, because even if you weren't in full enough control of your faculties to really be responsible for your actions while high, it would still be considered reckless and get you at the very least a manslaughter charge because you're still responsible for getting that high when there was a possibility of you hurting someone while under the influence. But that's not applicable here because Hawkeye didn't get mind controlled on purpose. He was, effectively, drugged. And if someone doses you with enough psychotropics and stimulants that you see monsters attacking you everywhere and have no sense of where you are and what's going on, and the next day when you come out of it you find that one of the "monsters" you beat off with a stick was actually a person, you're not going to be considered "guilty as sin" because you did not at the time have the mental competence to control your actions responsibly.

Granted, mind control doesn't exist so there isn't a legal precedent for it, but I don't see any reason why a court would find him to be guilty of what Loki made him do.

Yes. He might even have more than just a 1 minute snippet in CA2, kind of like he had in Thor 1 (his part was not shown in the trailers of Thor nor was it leaked or spoiled for us, so if it happened once, it could happen again) We already know Black Widow is wearing a necklace with an arrow on it, so he is not going to be forgotten in the movie.
