Again, these aren't soldiers or law enforcement. They are superheroes. They are something different. They are something else. They are something more. Captain America isn't your average soldier. He wore the costume because he knows it makes him a symbol and an icon. People respond to it. Men want to follow him into battle and will listen to him. So things like the shield, the chest star, the stripes, those are part of his iconography. The chin strap looks silly.

Lol, thats not a strong jawline. He's sticking his chin out in both shots. His jawline is pretty average. If they can prove me wrong by giving a helmet without chinstraps that doesn't look silly, then good, but I think the chin strap accentuates his jaw

That concept art up their would be perfect IMO, if it had some sort of chinstrap. It makes the helmet pop more a little more.

I've been saying this about the chinstrap/jawline for a while now. It works well for Evans on screen

I started this conversation in the Steve Rogers thread but I'm moving it here because its still relevant. But I was asking if someone could give me an example of a good cowl. And the answer was NITE Owl in WATCHMEN. and while I agree that the Nite Owl costume was very well portrayed at the end of the day its still looks to me like sculpted rubber. And for Captain America the picture posted above really drives home the fact that wearing a suit made out of fabric like material and then just having this completely rubber mask/cowl incasing your head and neck just seems a bit jarring. Thats why I much rather prefer the helmet look because it feels like a translation of the cowl but with real world aesthetics.

Personally I would say the only way would be with a completely fabric cowl, and if that can't be done, then leave the helmet.

He still has the shield, he still has the chest star, he still has the stripes. They tried the strapless cowl and it was a flop.

I always prefer the classic Cap design first but Im open to different versions in these movies. Main thing thats important is Chris Evans is the best Cap in film/TV so far. I think we'll follow him in any suit he wears

The "fish scales" would look really awkward in live action. You'd also have to explain why they're there (and why the wings are actually protruding OFF of his helmet for no real reason).

I think it could work really well they could alter the fish scales in to more of a meshed armour style. Granted the wings would need to stay on the helmet but the I think the chest would work awesome.

The problem with the cowl is that it looks like it's only their to protect his identity. It would off no damn protection once so ever. And then changing thickness alters the whole look. The comics just aren't translating.

I hope Tony is using armour similar to his Iron Man 2 Act 3/ Avengers Act 1, 2 armour.

I much prefer the Triangle chest light over the round one.

Wasn't a fan of the MK42. The gold was too washed out and too overpowering to the design.

I think Iron Man's suits have gone the opposite direction they should have. From Iron Man 2 and onward they've been getting more busy and clunky. I was expecting them to look more sleek. Oh well, they still look cool.

I'm loving Cap's new costume. I love the dark blue and red colour scheme and the suit itself is deeeecent. Huge improvement over the last one.

I like what I've seen of Black Widow's costume too. It fits the "Black Widow" name with the red and black colouring, but I have to admit I'm a little biased as red and black are my favourite colours.

I'm really curious to see what Thor's costume looks like this time. He's not on Asgard any more, so maybe he'll adjust his outfit accordingly. He probably won't have the same outfit from TDW. Maybe Stark will help him with this one.
