Crowe needs a hit. That's why he took this.
I don't care why he's doing it. I'm just glad he is.

Since when does someone like Russell Crowe need a hit? It's not as though he needs money or fame, he's friggin Russell Crowe! And like i said, he doesn't seem like the kind of actor who picks roles willy nilly or just to get some fame.

his last movies were underperformers. he is also a hollywood actor which means that his lifestyle demans big paychecks.big houses, espensive cars,yacht,..... he can not get a big paycheck with an oscar movie or an indie movie. or a 40 millions Ridley Scott movie that will bomb.Since when does someone like Russell Crowe need a hit? Not really, he's Russell Crowe, he does what he wants. He's got enough hits and critically acclaimed performances to pick and choose as he sees fit.
I'm not saying because he's in this film it's a guaranteed great film. I'm just saying that someone like Crowe isn't the kind of guy to get involved in disasters, like Tim Robbins.
Fair points. But Crowe isn't one to live a big hollywood lifestyle. He lives on a farm in Australia doesn't he? lol. I think he's one of those guys who cares more about the craft of being an actor and doesn't give a **** about fame and hoarding millions and millions of dollars that he or his family will never spend.
Eh, guess i'd rather be optimistic than cynical at this point.
Or the living legend Kevin Costner.

I agree (also on the first X-Men and Superman Returnswhether or not they hope for sequels, i dont think you should ever make a film expecting one.
i liked bryan singers first x-men movie, and superman returns. but i do believe both those movies were held back by the fact he was expecting to make sequels.
None of this will have any immediate effect on the upcoming Zack Snyder-directed Superman reboot Man Of Steel, scheduled to be released June 14, 2013, or any potential sequels from that property.
