Will MOS Be A Standalone Film Or A Trilogy?

to dark b

^thats because a lot of people are not critical of media and take things at face value.

Since when does someone like Russell Crowe need a hit? It's not as though he needs money or fame, he's friggin Russell Crowe! And like i said, he doesn't seem like the kind of actor who picks roles willy nilly or just to get some fame.

No but if he wants to do films that he is passionate about he needs a hit.

Not really, he's Russell Crowe, he does what he wants. He's got enough hits and critically acclaimed performances to pick and choose as he sees fit.

I'm not saying because he's in this film it's a guaranteed great film. I'm just saying that someone like Crowe isn't the kind of guy to get involved in disasters, like Tim Robbins.

He's had a string of flops and his reputation for being a pain in the ass is coming back to haunt him. That's why he needs a hit.

his last movies were underperformers. he is also a hollywood actor which means that his lifestyle demans big paychecks.big houses, espensive cars,yacht,..... he can not get a big paycheck with an oscar movie or an indie movie. or a 40 millions Ridley Scott movie that will bomb.

he needs right now a summer blockbuster where the filming will be shorter then 2 months and where he will get a lot money .

of course that doesnt mean that he is embarassed . but he is not doing this movie because he was reading superman comics when he was young :woot:

I see what your saying but when is the last time he had a major hit, in hollywood it seems your are only good as your last film.

Plus with the bad publicity he got for his behaviour these thing do affect your ability to get roles. Look at tom cruise, its taken him 7 years to come back after his antics.

the process of filmaking is complex and very long. no actor before he signs teh contract can knot how the movie will look and feel. the director can describe it you and show you some pictures. but it means nothing. plus the studio and director can use editing to destroy an actors performance. the only way to understand this is if you read scripts before the movie is filmed and realesed. then you can see how complex this is.

Crowe IMO made the decision based on the paycheck ,popularity

Fair points. But Crowe isn't one to live a big hollywood lifestyle. He lives on a farm in Australia doesn't he? lol. I think he's one of those guys who cares more about the craft of being an actor and doesn't give a **** about fame and hoarding millions and millions of dollars that he or his family will never spend.

Eh, guess i'd rather be optimistic than cynical at this point.

I agree, but at the same time it may not even be for the money so much as it is for being in something thats popular that gets you back on the map and back into favour with the right people. We'll never know though, he may just be a big superman fan, lol.

Yep, the guy who was in WaterWorld, The Postman, and Wyatt Earp. :csad:

Mocking Costner? How dare you?!?!?! :cmad:

The Untouchables, No Way Out, Field Of Dreams, Bull Durham, Dances With Wolves, Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves, JFK, The Bodyguard, A Perfect World, Open Range, Mr. Brooks. He's been in some pretty good movies, imo. :yay:

whether or not they hope for sequels, i dont think you should ever make a film expecting one.

i liked bryan singers first x-men movie, and superman returns. but i do believe both those movies were held back by the fact he was expecting to make sequels.
I agree (also on the first X-Men and Superman Returns ;)). Who wants that kind of pressure? Just focus on the film you're making now, and worry about any sequels later.

question is: if this film is a hit, how long until Cavill decides he wants to hang up the cape... as far as a franchise is concerned. Can a movie series realistically survive past 3, without a massive built in and maintained fanbase? (Like trek?)

Or Pirates of the Caribbean...

1. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003)
2. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006)
3. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (2007)
4. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011)
5. Pirates of the Caribbean 5 (2013)

But seriously, that's also an issue. Maybe Cavill thinks 1, 2, or 3 films is enough. I can imagine he signed a contract for, i.e., 3 films and when they decide to do 2 sequels, then he has to do them... But depending on how many he wants to do, and how the contract is, he'll do at least one and perhaps more. We don't know what agreement they have, and even if he has a 3 film contact, then it's still the question if they want sequels.

Stil doesn't mean other suits/countersuits/appeals, especially with Toberoff, can't hold up a settlement that would need to be made for a sequel to proceed.

True, but it gives hope to those who want sequels.

I think anyone would if they like the first movie...just don't be shocked if there's a major holdup, especially if there's more money to squabble over.

As long as it can be made before Adams turns 50....

Agreed. I think a sequel is unlikely as of now. And don't worry about Amy she'll probably move on to something else and they'll have to get a look-a-like in her place like they did Holmes.

Lois is a pretty major character, though...certainly moreso than Rachel Dawes.

And if they do recast, will they look for another redhead?
