Infinity War Will there be no Adam Warlock? (spoilers)

They already have. Watch the movie.

I don't really put it past them to change origins of these characters. They have proven to do it since the first IM. They do seem to be using Warlock's premise for the Vision. But I'm not convinced that we won't see Warlock show up at some point. Probably in GOTG2. What I believe is that his origin will be quite different from the comics as well. I doubt they are gonna do the same thing twice. You seem to think they merged the actual characters into one single entity. Is that what u saying?

Someone is jumping to a conclusion.

And clearly the people in charge wanted to use those instead. I'm not sure why you keep repeating "They don't need them if they have Adam!" when clearly they decided they wanted the Twins and Vision but not Adam for this film.

Writing works in a different order. They didn't first decide they needed SW and Ultron, and then Vision followed-- Scarlet Witch, Ultron, and Quicksilver come after the decision to use Vision in place of Warlock.

Warlock has a role in the Infinity plots and if you take him out, you have to put someone in his place. The motivation comes from the necessity for someone in that role.

It actually wasn't. Setting up Infinity War was a major subplot but Ultron and the Maximoffs were absolutely the major villainous focus for most of the film.

The driving force in the script is their need or desire to replace Adam Warlock-- not Ultron's plan to make the Avengers fight another army of grey robots.

They smack you over the head with the merger in the movie. Wision comes from a machine cocoon, he has artificial tissue as opposed to being an android, he has an infinity gem in his forehead, they talk about evolution multiple times, and they even show you a drawing of a butterfly by a child in one scene. The whole build to the climax of the movie can be summed up by the first caption in this cover:

Except Joss Whedon has said he wanted to use Ultron as the next villain as soon as he was done with Avengers 1, and even before that he suggested to Marvel that they use Ultron whether or not he returned to direct.

This stuff you keep saying about how they wanted to use Warlock but decided to use Vision instead is coming entirely from you.

If you have any proof of this I'd like to see it.

If you've seen Age of Ultron, then you know that Vision has been combined with Adam Warlock, with the mind gem embedded in his forehead, and he will replace Adam Warlock in Infinity War.

The reason for this is likely because Warlock is owned by Fox because of his origin in Fantastic Four comics. I'm still unsure how I feel about this. They aren't simply sticking the mind gem in Vision's head to augment Vision and use him in Warlocks place-- they used Warlock's origin with the cocoon and synthetic tissue.

Thanks Feige. Can you offer any other tidbits about Phase 3? Phase 4 even? :loco:

It's going to be pretty entertaining if your theory proves to be completely wrong, and Warlock shows up in GOTG2 as Star Lord's Father along with the Soul Gem. Hell, Gunn already gave us this:

guardians-galaxy.jpg

And he confirmed it IS Warlock's cocoon, and we later see in hatched in the after credits. I'm 95% sure that we see Warlock, in all his glory, in GOTG2.

Yeah, no Warlock. The Vision was Vision INO. The moment he opened his mouth it was Adam. Shame that they went this route.

Hopefully he'll change his appearance by the next film to match Adam a bit (hair, orange skin instead of pink)

No use arguing or debating in here over this topic.
Major Warlock bias, which is cool, but clearly any other opinions are falling on deaf ears. His mind is made up.

Considering Avengers 2 already is out and Wision is already a thing, it's not likely that a character named Adam Warlock will show up in GOTG2. It would be Warlock in name only because they already took the origin and combined it with Vision.

Marvel likely had already outlined where they were going. They've been alluding to the gauntlet since the first Thor.

It's called Avengers 2. Watch it. Characters are used to serve roles in stories-- not just to cosplay on the silver screen and blow crap up. Ultron is secondary to the choice or need for Vision in the larger continuity. You can't have Vision without Ultron (though it was argued you shouldn't do Ultron without his proper father).

I'm a huge Warlock fan and wish they hadn't done this, but they did. At this point all I hope is he begins to alter his look by the next film and the result is something closer to Adam.

I don't get the point of this.

"Vision will be Adam Warlock" absolute nonsense. So what, he's going to become the Magus? He's going to have a romance with Gamora? He's going to use cosmic-magic in his battle against Thanos?

This is stupid.

I don't know why they didn't feel confident enough in just making Adam Warlock Adam Warlock but for whatever reason they merged the two and switched the Soul gem for the Mind gem. My guess is Marvel doesn't own the High Evolutionary and felt his origin was too similar to Vision's.

The only way this could work for me is if in the next film Vision/Warlock alters his appearance to match Warlock more and then tells Cap he's leaving and ascends to join the Guardians in their hunt for Thanos.

Paul Bettany is near perfect in the role, just wish he was only playing Adam.

As far as the Soul Gem goes, I think it'll come from Doc Strange.

So much for Gunn's GOTG cocoon easter egg.

Lol is this guy for real? He's speaking on this like it's fact and he's saying watch the Avengers Age of Ultron for proof? LOL WHAT!?

I'm not going to even entertain this thread any longer. Like Adam Warlock is the only person in the Marvel Universe that has a Infinity Gem in their heads.

Vision has a power gem in his head in the comics, it may not be an infinity gem but it was made one in the films because it fits, simple as that.

Infact they've already introduced the idea of an infinity gem in the forehead of someone to the general audience now so when Adam Warlock shows up with the Soul Gem in his head people can make the connection.

This is beyond jumping to conclusions. And yes, I watched the film last night. This will be a hilarious thread to bump in a few years.

You watched the film but clearly don't read Warlock comics. Every word he spoke beginning with "I simply am." was 100% Adam Warlock.

People think the evidence is the gem on his forehead, its not. Its the characterization.

You tell me. Vision's gonna grow himself some curls of blonde hair and turn his skin orange for.... what purpose exactly??

You need to watch the film but I'll give you an example. Vision looks at Thor's cape. He likes how it looks so he builds himself a cape in seconds.

With the above information provided you really think they wouldn't justify his growing of hair and making his skin more like human skin a decision he'll make based on a similar scenario?

I'm an enormous Adam Warlock fan and own his entire run. I'm upset by what they've done here but there's no point in being defensive towards it with other posters.

They butchered Mandarin, they removed Pym from Ultron completely and now they've done this. Nothing we can do about it except discuss.

Vision hasn't taken Warlocks place. And even if he had...

Warlock was never going to play a big part in Infinity War.

How many of you have actually read Infinity Gauntlet or Infinity War?

Comics =/= Movies

That doesn't disprove his point. Adam Warlock "probably" won't have a role in Infinity War.

Logic fail-- arguing that Adam Warlock will still appear in the continuity and then not serve in the greatest role he ever played in Marvel's continuity.

You're right, Vision has always been green and red, and he wouldn't change.

So apparently Gunn had already confirmed the cocoon no longer meant anything.

In the commentary for GOTG which was recorded last November, he still said it was Adam. January 2015 he changed his tune. He must have gotten word soon after the commentary that Vision would become Adam in AOU.
