I agree, it was a very powerful performance, and I do wonder if he'll pop up again in teh film, but I doubt it

Fichtner even said it was a small part but he put his all into it, i doubt we'll see him again because he would either die there (unlikely tho)/in hospital or be killed by the mob for allowing the joker to take all that money

William Fitcher is very lucky.

1. He shared a scene with the Joker and the introduction of the character, no less.
2. He shared a scene with Heath Ledger.

Well since his fate is uncertain at the end of the prologue and he almost certainly won't appear in the film, i suspect the audience will be free to ponder his fate on their own.

Who says he wa wasted:)

Maybe he will be in another scene.

Possibly in the hospital that later on gets blown up?

Now, I'm not one to complain. I'm super-hyped for "The Dark Knight", and think the cast is awesome. When William Fichtner was added to the cast, I was very excited, thinking, "GREAT! Another excellent actor joins the Batman ensemble!" But then I hear he's playing...the Bank Manager.

Not exactly a huge role. In fact, probably it's nothing bigger than a single scene. Now, I know William Fichtner is hardly a household name, but he IS a respected character actor, whose profile has been significantly raised by his part in "Prison Break". In fact, ironically enough, he was one of the names mentioned as a candidate for Joker back when all the countless "Cast The Joker!" threads were popping up. I just think it's a shame to throw him away on a role that pretty much any no-name could play.

You know who I think Fichtner would have been PERFECT for? Jeremiah Arkham.
Theres a chance he could appear again in another scene other then just the prolouge. Because hes on the IMDB character list for TDK... but then again imdb isnt that reliable so...

I would love to see him again later, ranting and raving about the Joker...

All messed up, and freaked out as the cops take him away, or as he rolls away in a stretcher...

something cool

He's no more wasted than Tom Wilkinson was. So yeah, pretty much wasted.

Who knew Fichtner voiced Ken Rosenburg in both Grand Theft Auto: Vice City & Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. It cool he in TDK, even if it small. :D:up:

I'll grant you, I would like to see William Fichtner in a larger role, I think that with his facial structure he would make a great Mad Hatter. He is a brilliant actor and in a perfect world he would get a larger slice of the pie. But I believe that his role in The Dark Knight is enough. He doesn't have long on screen but when he was there he made an impact. He delivered his lines brilliantly, in any other hands they wouldn't have worked. The way he went from timid bank manager to gun-toting lunatic was magnificent and also remember that he has the honour of having one of the first scenes with the Joker. Basically he made the best of what little he had.

Definitely a case of quality over quantity.

i bet we'll see him again after the bank scene, talking/arguing with the cops or something before he goes to the hospital

and no he wasnt wasted in my opinion, for all i know they may have cut a minute or so out of the prologue, who knows. he had a just as small role in crash but his scene was still great

From what iv seen of the prologue, if that is the only scene he is in, it's a pretty cool one, "you are your friends are dead" "look at you, what do you believe in?" super cool, Tom Wilkinson (an oscar nominated actor) was in several smaller scenes in bb and they were pretty cornball.

yea definitely, that was a role i would be excited to have, and haha yea i love that line

"You know who your stealing from!?"

"You and your friends are dead!!!"

(i think i heard a bit of a new york accent in there too haha)

"Cornball"? Really? I thought that the Falcone character was well handled. More so than in the comics where, let's be fair, he's a total rip-off of Don Corleone.

I guess we have differing opinions, I thought he was hamming it up, as about un-intimidating a mobster as you can get, seemed to me to be more like a parody of old 1940's mobsters.

That's true. However, I also agree with Ronny, the comic book Falcone was a tribute to Vito Corleone.
Wilkinson served his purpose well, imo, so no harm done. His colourful/cynical/ironical performance was welcome to me.

I hate the old he served his purpose excuse for bad performances Wilkonson was terrible his accent sucked and a dangerous cunning and well formed character from the comics was turned into something resembling a bad saturday night live sketch.

I actually think that Tom Wilkinson starred in one of the most powerful scenes in the movie ("Now you think 'cos your mommy and your daddy...").

Nolan did a good job with the Falcone character. He definitely served a purpose and contributed a lot to the story in terms of Bruce standing up to crime.

Do you really think so? the falcones are a complex and powerful family in the comic seeing them reduced to that in BB gets my blood boiling falcone could easily have been a semi major villain like rupert thorn in BTAS or Max shreck in BR not all Bats villains are insane killers some are just evil men with power falcone could have been as good instead he is a joke imo.
