Winner Takes it All....

I guess I never saw it either because I don't even know what it is. Doesn't even look like anything I would be interested in. I guess because I'm not a teen-age girl?

It's concept & male lead are not for me I'm afraid.

Collider are currently having a countdown of a top 50 superhero films over on You Tube (check it out, it's well presented, if the numbering for some are frankly questionable) but here is the introductory pod cast bringing in a debate on the prospective Top 5.....

I guess it depends on whether you include movies like the Crow, V for Vendetta etc., or animated like Mask of the Phantasm but

29 or so DC movies
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_films_based_on_DC_Comics

49 or so Marvel movies
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_films_based_on_Marvel_Comics

Rest of the movies
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_American_superhero_films

I guess personally

13 MCU movies (Exclusing IM3, T: DW, TIH, IM2)
2 Spider-Man movies (1&2)
2 Superman movies (1 & 2)
5 Batman movies (B, B&R, TDKT)
6 X-Men movies (X, X2, FC, DOFP, DP, Logan)

Wonder Woman, Blade, Blade 2, Hellboy & 2, Dredd, Rocketeer, Crow, V for Vendetta, 300, Mask, Unbreakable, Road to Perdition.

That's like 41 or so not including movies like IM3, Superman Returns, Man of Steel, The Wolverine.

In regard to the Collider Top 50 countdown, they are coming into the top 10 now and here are 10, 9 & 8....

At 10....

X-Men 2

At 9....

Iron Man

At 8.....

Wonder Woman

Glad to see X2 made the top 10.

Spider-Man 2

TDK was runner-up. I've noticed, though, how instinctive it is to make a tragic ending your go-to. TDK's is meaningful and packs a punch, and it works wonders on me. But I've yet to see a happy ending as well-earned and “F yeah!”-worthy as SM2's. Therefore, it takes the cake.

At 7....

The Incredibles

Looking at the Top 50 and the movies announced.

9. Iron Man
10. X2
11. DP
12. GOTG
13. Homecoming
14. BB
15. Spider-Man 2
17. DOFP
19. First Class
21. Superman 2
22. Spider-Man
25. Ant-Man
26. CA: TFA
27. Thor
33. AOU
36. TDKR
37. GOTG Vol. 2
39. Doctor Strange
44. TIH
46. IM3
48. T: DW

With 6 more to go, it's obvious that the Top 6 are TDK, Avengers, CW, TWS, Logan & Superman?

Surprised Ragnarok isn't on when Thor and Dark World are. Don't see how the aforementioned 6 couldn't be on this list.

There was a cut off I believe, they started making the list before Ragnarok came out.

If I have to choose currently I can watch Spider-Man 2 till the day I die.

Think it's going to be 4. Civil War, 3. Avengers, 2. Logan, 1. TDK.

I reckon it'll be

4) Logan
3) Civil War
2) Avengers
1) The Dark Knight

Don't agree with any of those placings for those films, but it was pretty clear from the way the films were coming in on their placings, was I ever going to be ? No. But equally, it's not Jim's list, it's Collider's.

I'll wait until Friday after they post the remainder to post my thoughts, however, it's interesting that the general consensus Top 5 MCU films are int the Top 12, with 3 in the Top 5.

Crow, V for Vendetta, Kick-Ass, and Blade all made it onto the collider top 50 IIRC

Logan is a marvellous, marvellous movie and entirely deserves to be at number two in this list, but if Collider chooses to put it above The Dark Knight it will be purely to stoke controversy and in an effort to be 'different'.

The Dark Knight is not only the finest cbm ever made, it is one of the best movies ever made, period.

It is the only cbm to truly transcend the genre thus far, and will probably remain so for some time to come.

Is it perfect? Of course not. Nolan makes errors with things like the over utilitarian Bat suit and the choice he and Bale made with the bat voice. Some of the editing is a tad too quick and there are small pacing issues because of this here and there.

But these are small, and superficial things. As a piece of cinema it is breath-takingly well constructed and delivered.

I watched it again the other night in 4k for the first time in months, and if anything it has got better as the years have passed. The films carries just as much emotional heft as it ever did, and I still find myself in emotional pieces by the time Gordon gives his famous speech.

I know some people want to cry from the rooftops that TDK is overrated. But they are categorically and objectively wrong.

TDK should be at number one, and if it isn't, Collider will have put clicks before genuine criticism.

IMO, That Collider list is too flawed at this point. Putting The Dark Knight Rises at #36, below the likes of First Avenger, Rocketeer, Thor 1, and Age of Ultron. Putting Spider-Man 2 at #15 when it should be in the top 10. No Guardians of the Galaxy in the top ten. Wonder Woman making it all the way to #8.

I think, given how many people are involved in the choice 'set up' and how it's been co-ordinated, it's somewhat inevitable, the placing results are going to be 'all over the place'. I agree though, the final placings are not what I'd chose, (but they are for different, personal reasons, rather than any specific 'individual' placement setting).

The placement of TDKR is not a hill I'd need/want to die on.

All lists are flawed since consensus has no actual worth, all that really matters to ourselves in the end are our own opinions. That of course doesn't mean that other people's opinions can't be interesting to read or discuss, I just mean that it's sad if people try to justify their opinions by pointing to what others think.
