wireless mouse working slowly

i have a microsoft wireless mouse 4000 for my laptop, everything was fine and all i did was change the battery now the cursor moves but sort of jumps and is jittery, the buttons also do not always seem to respond

i've updated the drivers would it be something as daft as the battery being to strong

Try cleaning the sensor on the bottom of your mouse. Sometimes some dust or dirt gets in there and it screws up the sensor.

I would actually unistall the drivers completely, restart your computer and then Windows will automatically install the drivers. There could also be an issue with the USB port (although not likely).
