The Amazing Spider-Man 2 With Great Sequel Comes Great Lounging - Part 2

How long do you guys think Sony will hold onto the film rights to Spider-Man? There was a rumor that they wanted to sell them back after TASM4 to focus on electronics, but I don't believe that. Unless the film is a total failure, but lets not assume that.

Spider-Man will sell because it's Spider-Man. Not too many franchises have that power.

If this expansive cinematic universe works out, then they should keep it and continue building it, even with new actors. So many great stories to adapt on screen. I would love to see an adult Peter Parker, and see him get married to MJ, and so on.

I feel like even the MCU is going to lose its popularity eventually. It is a bid of a fad. I think once they get to phase 4 (or however many phases they planned for), that's going to be it. At least for a long time.

I guess their (Sony's) hold might end with the end of this film series

I would love to see them continue with the MCU even after Avengers 3. I think they could continue going for another 15 years.

Which begs the question, how long do you realistically think we'll continue to see studios making Superhero movies? At least at this rate anyway. There's like 5 new ones coming out each year almost.

I think at some point they'll have to take a break. However, they could make movies of lesser known heroes to get their names out there. I think it's all going to depend on how much money they continue to make.

So what happened with Thanos in the Avengers 2? Random I know

I think there will be a burn out soon

Superhero movies are on the uprise, IMO. I don't think they're going anywhere anytime soon. Not with characters like Spider-Man, Batman, Iron Man and Superman still popular

Weaton has said recently that Sony are open to a Spidey/Avengers crossover and that Oscorp in TA was to show they exist in the same world. He said that the Fox films would be difficult to include and that they hate everyone and refuse to share (think quicksilver)

I want them to not crossover as much as I want no symbiotes in the new movie universe, I'd love to see a Marvel Universe free from Spider-Man's existence
Besides, Webb's Spider-Man is aimed to be more grounded, Marvel studios keep the fantastical, their colors will clash

You're right, there's nothing fantastical about a teenager getting bit by a Spider, crawling on walls, gaining super human strength, swinging through NYC in spandex while trying to stop a transformed 9ft. Lizard from turning the entire world into lizards as well.

Marvel studios keep the fantastical up to a tee
Webb aims to limit some stuff, I don't know what exactly, but he aims to limit stuff a notch

Webb has a nice universe with giant Lizards and everything, but it's not quite the aliens invading the world universe. Then again, Iron Man was never like that either. I'd say Iron Man was more grounded or realistic than TASM until TA.

Webb's Spidey isn't grounded, it's imaging him in the real world

It didn't make Spider-Man swing jump as high as the Raimi films did
