Thinking about getting Red Dead Redemption.

Anybody played this? I know it's similar to GTA and everything and I've only played it once.

I love Django too so that helps lol..

RDR is one of the best games ever. Story, graphics, gameplay, the free roam setting, voice acting, etc, etc. It's often called GTA Stagecoach, lol. It's very much a GTA in the old west for sure...it's such an awesome game. There's never a shortage of stuff to do...you must get this.

Very few people will care here, but Jack Tretton has stepped down from his job of CEO of SCEA.

I'll miss him in the E3 conferences :(

Awesome. Good to hear. It's $20 so can't beat that.

I did enjoy your RoboCop review so I trust your word on this haha.

I really need to get into RDR, especially since I am such a huge GTA fan.

Sam Raimi is apparently directing the film adaptation to "The Last of Us."

You can't go wrong especially at that price. I could go on and on about the game...it truly is a masterpiece. The free roam alone is worth the $20 price tag.

Did you ever get around to seeing Robocop?

Ahhh, this is making my sock crawl up my leg! You guys seriously need to play this game and as a fan of GTA, you will love it. I promise.

Idk man...The Last of Us to me is just really is a masterpiece. Words can't describe.

And yeah! I thought RoboCop was fine. I didn't take the movie too seriously and had low expectations. Kinda the best way to go about movies like those.

Speaking of TLOU...yeah I saw that! Screen Gems is a subdivision of Sony so makes sense haha.

RDR, imo, is right up there with the Uncharteds, Last of Us, Arkham City, and whatever else could win game of the year. It's from a bit earlier in the last gen of consoles, I think the game came out in '08, but it's a very complete gaming experience in every way. Top notch stuff, you wanna play this. lol, I feel like playing it again just talking about it.

Robocop fit that category perfectly...nothing too serious but it got the job done.

Haha sure. Didn't RDR get 10/10 and all that buzz that year? Same this with TLOU. Might pick it up this weekend then :yay:

You have chosen wisely :cwink:

Make sure you come back on here and post your impressions of the game. I've no doubt you're gonna enjoy it.

Will do my friend! Quick question. Is there a specific time this is supposed to take place?

You mean the time period the game is set within?

If memory serves me correctly it takes place in the early 1900s. That's about the time the old west was coming to an end and industrialization was beginning to take over.

Gotcha. Can't wait. How's the game's length compared to GTAV and TLOU?

In RDR the main story will take you about 30 hours, give or take a few. The rest of the game involves completing a whole bunch of side missions, challenges (which are divided up into 4 categories that include hunting, combat, herb collecting, and treasure hunting) and all that should take you another 30 hours or somewhere around that mark. And then there's other activities you can choose to do within towns/cities such as playing poker, liar's dice, doing jobs for the town police, herding cattle, breaking horses, duels in the street, doing bounty hunter jobs, etc, etc, etc. Dude, the game is so deep. You will be immersed in the old west.

That sounds awesome especially the other activities. You should be a salesman! Haha.

lol. Nah, man. It's easy to talk about things in depth like that when it's something you really love. I'm also excited for you to play the game and hear your reaction.

You're right. I'm sure we could all go on and on about Spider-Man to anyone. So what's up with this zombie version of the game it looks like?

It's called Red Dead Undead, I think. No...it's called Undead Nightmare. It's a completely separate story from the original story in RDR and doesn't fit anywhere in that continuity, really. So, you can play it before, after or even during the events of the story mode in RDR and you won't be spoiled. You can select it from the main menu screen after selecting single player. It's a DLC pack and you gotta pay an extra $10 US for it. Unless they changed the price recently. It's been awhile since I bought it, lol.
