I had thought the expression looked a little too lazy myself and have amended it a little since. Will try and make him a bit more angry looking for the final one

very nice coloring, however he looks kinda shiny than rocky, but not bad

Not sure what you mean there. He looks shiny rather than rocky?
If you mean the highlighting I've put on him, in the main pic the torch is flying above and behind him so it makes sense any light from the flame should be highlighted off Bens hide from that direction. Even matted objects still reflect light. The same will apply to the other characters and they'll be highlighted similarly.
Any inconsintencies in direction of that light can be fixed when I see it alltogether on the screen (as I said, this is a test run on Ben, I haven't started on the others yet)

So if that is what you meant it's not a case of him being shiny, rather just his hide reflecting a strong light source from the direction it's coming from, basically just as he would if he were real.

That makes sense now. I didn't remember the Torch was above him

what program do you use to color your pics wobbly?
Damn, I missed your question so I'm very sorry for taking so long to reply.
As for the answer I use Photoshop for computer colored pics and whatever I have that works for manual coloring (usually alcohol based markers or water colors/Acrylics, stuff like that).

Here's the pencils for my first go at an entry for the Christopher Reeve Tribute Competition:

There's not a lot to it really and I've been thinking of trying something else but if I do go with this or something similar I'll probably try painting it the old fashioned way.

Suh-weet. I love it when you post WIPs, cause it lets me see just what steps and changes you do when making an entry.

Here's the more or less finished colors for the above pencils:

Reeve_Tribute_Paint1.jpg

After making a right pigs ear out of the pencils trying to paint them manually (a little out of practice...) I decided to do a 'Hybrid' for this one: Colored it initially on PC trying to get a painted feel to it, printed that off then went over lightly here and there with some Arcrylic color washes. Once done scanned it back in and added the text at the bottom.

I doubt I'll have time to try something else so barring some fiddling about with this it'll probably be my entry for the comp in the end.

Seeing Superman is REALLY REALLY done well. I would pay for a print of that alone, and to add Reeve like that is great. But looking at it, theres something about Reeves nose that is bugging me.

Well, I been fiddling about with it a little since I posted it so maybe the newer one is a bit better? (The coloring on Reeve's face looked a little washed out in general after the scan back in so I've worked some on that too).

The coloring looks WAY better, but I mean the nose looks a bit too high up.

It's been a while since I posted in this thread but here's something I did after seeing and not being too impressed with the latest FF movie poster (it's also posted over in the FF forums):

fantastic_four_POSTER_NEW.jpg

Obviously all manipped (and then some...) in Photoshop from whatever pics I could find that were usable with bits drawn in where needed.

(btw- this job would have been virtually impossible to do without a Wacom, once you get used to using one they are a Godsend!!!:) )

That poster rocks wobbly did you do a little coustume redesign on them? Again they look great!

Thanks for the comments people, greatly appreciated.

After inking a couple of great action pics by another artist I decided to put a lot more thought into making this pic more energetic than the comparatively dull 'pin-up' poses I usually do, so I'm happy that seems to have come off :)

Also wanted to try a more modern 'ripped' look on the Hulk than the old fashioned (70's/80's) way I usually draw him too.

Lastly, here's the 'step by step' bit for this one (I won't put any more of these up though, I think you get the idea of how I do pics by now):

Layout

Pencils

Inks

you are the type of artist i envy, the ones who can do that step by step thing. that is probably why i can't draw good. i tend to just draw things straight out with a lot of rubbing out, and the end result is very worn out paper. your result is very good artwork which everyone loves. keep making us hypesters happy :)

IM NOT WORTHY! Holy hell man, this stuff is awesome!

that FF poster is freakin' amazing!!! Keep up the kick ass picks!

This is what I will probably go with in this months fan art comp:

Ghost-Rider-PColored.jpg

The layout is based on a Tomb Raider movie poster, and it was pencilled & inked manually, colored behind the inks normally in PS first, then 'painted' over in PS (to try and lighten the heavy inks a bit).

I've done another layout which would have Mephisto in it too but as I'm something else now I'll only go ahead with that one if I have time to do a decent job on it before the comp deadline :) .

Like everyone else, you have only gotten better with time, Wobbly. But, I started out with an affinity to your work, and even now, it just blows me away just as much as it did when I first saw your stuff. Been a fan for two years or so now--take solice in the fact that you have loyal fans.

Your work is very nice Wobbly. I guess I should start picking up a pencil and maybe do some drawing. I haven't drawn in 15 years

I think I'll let my manip thread die down

I was playing around since I'm pretty new with manips. I also need to get me one of those photo shop software. Which is the best version to have that doesn't cost an arm and a leg?

Keep up the good work.
