Wobbly Bits...

Like everyone else, you have only gotten better with time, Wobbly. But, I started out with an affinity to your work, and even now, it just blows me away just as much as it did when I first saw your stuff. Been a fan for two years or so now--take solice in the fact that you have loyal fans.

I have been a fan of Wobbly's work too. I wish I had that kind of talent. I've done some paintings and drawings, but they seem amateurish.

This is what I will probably go with in this months fan art comp:

Ghost-Rider-PColored.jpg

The layout is based on a Tomb Raider movie poster, and it was pencilled & inked manually, colored behind the inks normally in PS first, then 'painted' over in PS (to try and lighten the heavy inks a bit).

I've done another layout which would have Mephisto in it too but as I'm something else now I'll only go ahead with that one if I have time to do a decent job on it before the comp deadline :) .
Awsome. But what's with the Hebrew letters in the backround?

It's a genuine satanic symbol "The Sigil of the Baphomet":

The letters apparently spell out the word "leviathan".

Here's a photo-manip in the manner or the earlier 'Hulk Vs Thing' pic I posted in the thread, using both movies versions of the characters (and yes, these one's do take a looong time to do...:) )

Hulk-Vs-Thing-FLAT.jpg

Forgot to add...The Hulk has been reduced to something closer to his correct size (a 15ft Hulk against a 5ft10" Thing just aint gonna look right :) )

WOW

wobbly thats really good

Very Impressive, Wobbly. Not like I expected anything different.

Very, very cool! It's rare that I see a manip that I think looks good, but this is one of those times :).

Thanks for the comments on the Hulk Vs Thing pic, always appreciated.

Heres another new(ish) one. Based on a pic I did a couple of years ago, I basically 'painted' over it in photoshop & generally jazzed it all up, my version of Phoenix for X3:

PhoenixMK2.jpg

Note: Yeah, we all know Famke Jenssen doesn't have, nor is likely to show quite as much cleavage, but we can but hope ;) :)

Should also add the fiery background Phoenix is based on a great design I saw on a book cover back when I did the original.

Wow wobbly, I wish I could render fire like that in PS. Your PS skill has always impressed me. The only thing that throws me off I guess are the white hands...reminds me of nightcrawler. That phoenix in the background...is that all rendered by yourself or are you using a manip?

Wobs buddy, I'm glad you haven't lost your touch. I'm lovin' the Hulk vs the Thing!

A bit of of both. As I said, it was based off a design on a book cover and this was it (the wonders of google's image search :) ):

That design is so neat I blew it up and worked right over it. Dont know who painted that original but its a great job.

As for rendering fire effects in general, for manips I tend to use existing pics of fires mixed together where it looks right and then paint over either with the brush or clone tool to blend and match etc. Basically just keep going till it looks right. There's also a neat 'smoke' filter in KPT that can add a nice effect for glows and so on (like around Jean in the above pic), but you have to persevere with it using it in stages (basically one small bit at a a time)

I know how Modest Wobbly can be sometimes, but, check this out everyone, Seeker found this...

SUE. And Jim Lee posted on his blog (jimlee.net) that, that post seemed very similar to a drawing he did, especially Mr. Fantastic! And again, SUE :)

This would be the poster Jim Lee is referring to and that was part of the idea really; The posters Fox had come up with at the time hadn't impressed me much so I wanted to come up with something that I felt was a better representation of the FF from the comics. I looked at a lot of covers and posters from the books and went for a layout similar to Lee's one here as I could represent all 4 characters well without having one dominate it (If I remember right I posted this picture over at the FF boards before I even made mine as an idea of what I was going for).

The one I have is like A1, I believe.

Yours is A3, which is about half the size of the one that theatre is using (judging by the doors I'd say that one is A2).
My best guess is someone either grabbed the higher-res pic I put up on the net for a while and used that, or one of the A3 prints I've had done has been used and/or reproduced...
