Wolfenstein: The New Order

I've only played Wolfenstein 3D but it did provide me hours of fun back in grade school. I don't want to think how much time I wasted pressing up against bare walls hoping to find a treasure room.

Not really feeling the aesthetics for this game but my interest is piqued.

Ah I quite like the look of the game. An improvement on the original at least. :woot:

I'm glad they're not shying away from the swastica imagry. It always annoys me in pulpy WWII sci-fi when the shy away from that stuff like in Captain America for example.

It does look very polished. Even though it takes place in an alternate reality I hope they still manage to give off a 60's vibe.

And yea, CA totally *****fied WW2.

Very cool trailer. I wonder how much of the supernatural will be in the game if any.

Yeah, that's the only part of CA that bothered me. I remember an excuse being given that they didn't want to offend the German audience.. Or something like that.

Cool trailer though.

:huh:as Reader of history Germany attacking America with the first bomb does not make any sense Germany almost occupied most of Europe during that time, but she had a problem with Russia and the British Isles logic says Germany will use the first bomb on one of this country's:whatever:

Very cool trailer. Shooting Hitler in his geezer face would be a pretty sweet final confrontation.

So Doom 4 is gonna be another reboot? :wow:

Yeah, that's the only part of CA that bothered me. I remember an excuse being given that they didn't want to offend the German audience.. Or something like that.

Cool trailer though.

Agreed, that and Red Skull being so boring as a villain

I know it's dumb to judge games before they're out, and especially before you've played them, but based on the trailer, I think this is going to fly under the radar and quietly be the best shooter of 2014. While Titanfall is run-and-gun robot madness and Destiny is a flowery RPG/shooter hybrid, Wolfenstein just looks like good old-fashioned, high-octane action.

Old fashioned is what the FPS genre needs much more of these days. Especially for console gaming...outside the mechs I don't have much interest in Titanfall the gameplay looks kinda generic despite the parkour. But that's me, this is more my style.

Oh no, the Titanfall gameplay is far from generic.Unless by generic you mean pretty darn fun.

Call of Duty can be fun as **** too, but that doesn't mean it's not generic.

I will have to take your word for it because I likely will never play it, the first one at least. I don't have a good enough PC and won't be getting XB1.

Call of Duty can be fun as **** too, but that doesn't mean it's not generic.

Exactly.

Old fashioned isn't that good these days, you can get straight FPS from the popular stuff like Call of Duty, if you don't bring anything new to the table these days you won't be able to succeed.

Call of Duty does nothing new every year yet it succeeds. Rise of the Triad and Shadow Warrior did pretty well last year and were quite good old fashioned shooters. Serious Sam seems to do well still, I'm sure there are some others I could think of. Right now, FPS games have become a genre I'm not overly fond of anymore despite it once being my favorite genre of games over platformers. There is little innovation nowadays disguising itself as innovation and yet shooters still dominate the market, I think a large return of the old fashioned would be considered innovation.

Ya COD has brought nothing new to the table. The first few (after 4) were pretty good but they just took what was popular from Counter Strike, and some of their mods that added exp and went with that. Not that that's bad.

Old school is still good, it's just so many of the gamers now are post Halo types that don't know much about the old school. Serious Sam went to an extreme (yes it was fun) with the Old school. It was like Doom on speed.

But I would like to see something like the originals. The last time I really had a Doom like experience was probably Quake 2, after that those kinda disappeared. I hope this kinda brings that back. You can have the modern and old school working side by side. Like New Super Mario Wii type stuff.

I'll never forget when Wolf3D and Doom came out. Got Doom a week before Christmas in 93, and me and my cousin played it all Christmas eve. Man I remember how scary it was to fight the Cyberdemon at the end of Episode 2.

I hope the Order is really good.

I'm not saying it did, but right now it has a large extablished fanbase, vídeo games now that are old fashioned as FPS usually fail if they aren't part of a popular enough franchise.

Take it from someone that's PLAYED the game.. It's not a generic shooter. Everyone raves about Mirrors Edge, a game that outside of the free running.. I felt to be one of the most boring things I've ever played. The free running adds a LOT to Titanfall.. and all the stuff you can do in the game adds to it.

Titanfall isn't some ground breaking game.. It's not going to completely change the way we play games (I believe that will be Destiny) but the game is far from generic. It's bringing enough new stuff to the table that I can easily say that.. and I've only two dang maps. We havent even seen much in regards to how the story is interwoven with the online stuff.

I wonder if this is going to be another one of those games that gets massive sales due to the enclosed beta? I'm sure it will get good sales anyway just because it's Wolfenstein but the Doom beta must have everyone interested.
