WOLFMOTHER Saves Rock

I was actually kidding, kinda. I just remember your thread about ''music these days'', and the fact that you semi-recently got a guitar and went from there.

Either way, I don't care...like I say, I'm not a huge fan of this band either.
Well getting a guitar made me apreaciate classic rock more because those guys were alot more talented. Jack White, RHCP, the strokes are great.

Seriously, I feel like I'm transplanted into the 70's when I'm listening to it; without all the coke and afros . . .

if you wanna hear more modern rock that has that same effect, click on THE MUGGS in my sig and go to the media section.

I listened to one song of theirs... not bad. I'm trying to download their album now.

if you dig the album after downloading it...please buy it. im cool with people downloading s#!t for free when it comes to big bands who've already made millions..but when its smaller bands where these guys are still working as bartenders (such as the lead singer/guitarist for this band) or are on disability because they're partially paralyzed from suffering a brain hemerige (like the keyboard player), or are a funeral director (like the drummer), it sucks when you're getting their s#!t for free. plus i know these guys....

I like the sound of this. I've downloaded a few songs of Wolfmother, and will probably scope out the album if I can come across it. Totally dig the Muggs too, but I still need to get my hands on their album.

Yep, I do buy most of the albums I like. I originally downloaded Wolfmother... and I bought it after I started to love it. I'll definitely buy the album if I like it.

no i like new rock, i think the strokes are better than these guys, its like artic monkeys overrated crap its just okay but the media just kills it. WM saves nothing thats my arguement im not saying they're so bad you should be killed for liking them.

Arctic Monkeys kick maximum ass, but the NME over hyped them.

Maxim called them the best band since Nirvana . . . and even though it's Maxim, I still concur!!

Most house bands are better than Nirvana........cept for Dave.

These guys would have been my favorite part of Coachella if Tool didnt steal the show. Wolfmother owned everyone except for Tool

What I've heard from myspace they suck. Ten bucks says they will be on an ipod commercial with some black guy with afro "rocking out" in the next 3 months or so.

I hate unispired music.

not crying, just posting facts.

now run along and listen to your 9 member poser band.

That picture is so funny, I bet that guy really got picked on.:D

I'm sorry to report...Wolfmother did not save Rock. I repeat, Wolfmother did NOT save Rock.:(
Latest accounts put Rock square in peril.

Agreed. I really liked the Monkeys till the hype got too much and I couldn't even listen to them anymore. Now they're pretty cool again.

what does "the hype" have to do with the sound of their music?

No one was ever "hyped" as much as the Beatles and Led Zeppelin.

I don't get it.
I listen to music I like because I like it and I listen to it when I feel like it.
What does promotion have to do with anything?

exactly, I'm really sick and tired of people promoting bands and others who buy their albums because "someone said this is cool". There are many movies and albums that I love that almost everyone else thinks sux. I am my own person, I don't need someone to tell what is "good". I'm sick of VH-1 and their "artists you ought to know".

I'm to the point now, where if someone labels themself in one of these stupid generes like "indie rock" or "arthouse", that I will not even give them a listen.

wolfmother are awesome!

seriously though the first time i heard them i was only semi impressed. I was all like " meh, they're okay but its been done"
but then i listened to them a litlle more a realised what a cool thing they had going.
Fairly simple riffs with pretty decent drumming and a post modern take on the rock genre that brught us so many awesome bands.

Gotta love any band with an ugly front man, seriously he looks like quassimodo

PREDATOR 2:up:
you might be right, but I don't care. My music catalouge is fine the way it is now. I don't feel the need to constantly add to it.

I just wish I really would have stuck with playing guitar, I think I could've improved to the point where I might be able to "make it". And if I would have, I would write songs about the glory of capitalism, making millions of dollars and loving it. I wouldn't hide behind labels like "indie" or whatever. I would seek out the best ($) contract I could find and make no bones about it.

I basically got sick of hearing the Arctic Monkeys. That's because I was hearing them too friggin' much. It's like that one song you like and know is a good song, but have heard too many times thanks to ridicilious radio overplay.

Now that I've gone without hearing them every five minutes I've actually come to enjoy them again.

Thats right.

I like The Outlaws - "Greengrass and High Tides" - I listen to that and "Ghost Riders in the Sky" LIVE version yesterday while I smoked some chicken and had a couple of brews on my back deck.

I don't know if anyone has heard of this band . . . but they are the product of what I would imagine would occur if Led Zeppelin, The White Stripes and Black Sabbath had a crazy orgy that resulted in a freak offspring known as WOLFMOTHER.

If anyone has been craving a band that blends crunchy, monstrous riffs in the tradition of 70's psychedelic rock like no band since Zeppelin, you must buy this disc.

They're out of Australia, and quickly building rapport for their rep here in the US, and their CD is only like $10 right now . . .

I know that I've felt that rock has been steadily declining since the good 'ol grunge heyday . . . and if you feel the same, WOLFMOTHER just might answer your prayers . . .

Sounds awsome.

You and Ted Nugent could have been great together! :o
