Wolverine filming update/news.

There was a wrap party last night, but according to The Daily Telegraph, shooting continues in the studio until the end of June.

HUGH Jackman had a hairy moment as he, wife Deborah-Lee Furness and fellow stars enjoyed an opulent, '70s-themed Wolverine wrap party.

Lol

More than 600 cast and crew partied, including key cast Will.I.Am, Danny Houston, and Taylor Kitsch.

Local actors at the party included Aaron Jeffreys, Peta Wilson and Asher Keddie.

The article mentions Liev was wearing an afro wig :p, and the producer said the production hired 50 Australian actors and 1500 extras.

why there aren't photos of the other actors?

:cmad:

I want to see Taylor, hehe

Maybe their disguises were too good. Hugh was more recognisable through his wife (who looks like she's wearing fancy dress most of the time, meow!)
There's one of Gavin Hood at newspix.

Here's hoping this happens...

Hollywood again knows its place July 24-27 (preview night July 23). It's the wild four-plus days of Comic-Con International 2008, focus of the pop-culture world.

What do we know about this year? Guests have not been confirmed, but smart money is on these folks showing up:

Hugh Jackman from “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” (opening May 1, 2009); ...

Interesting angle on filming.

Strong dollar a threat to films, Jackman
By Vicky Roach
May 24, 2008 08:32am

HUGH Jackman says he probably wouldn't have got the green light to shoot X-Men Origins: Wolverine in Sydney in the current economic climate.

"It would have been very hard," the actor-producer said as a strong Australian dollar took a heavy toll on the local industry, deterring overseas productions.

Jackman is particularly concerned about crew members, many of whom he worked with on the back-to-back big-budget productions Australia and Wolverine.

"The crews we have are world class. Without consistent work, the industry will falter," he said.

Veteran grip Ray Brown, who among a string of other projects worked on all three Matrix films, said the situation was "desperate".

When the plug was pulled on George Miller's Justice League: Mortal because it failed to qualify for the 40 per cent tax rebate awarded to films with significant Australian content, 1200 jobs and a year's work were lost, Brown said.

After three weeks work on thriller Knowing, he has nothing to go to.

According to the IMDB for X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Australian actor Matthew Dale is playing a surgeon, while actress Alice Parkinson is rumored to appear as Elizabeth Howlett - Wolverine's mother.

Hmm that's intresting, poor guy has a conflict. Wish there was some thing I could do for him.

I have a script (6/1/06) and it's good, very good. Act 1 and act 2 are great but the second half of this script is very 'average' with some cheap jokes and the last scene is very 'jasonbournish'. But my rating for this script is: B.

Oh my... I hope not!

Emma is the only one that hasn't appear, so let her for X4, please.
My sentiments as well.

Thanks ant.
Interesting that they're combning both the old and new origin stories.

According to this, Liev was on the set for 10 hours on May 27 so it sounds like they aren't *quite* done. Pictures attached.

Liev Schreiber is finally wrapping up work in Australia on 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' with Hugh Jackman. In fact he put in a whopping ten-hour day at Fox Studios yesterday, so he's more than deserving of some down time.

The man who will be Sabretooth hasn't been seen without a surfboard much since he's been in the homeland of his lady love Naomi Watts, which isn't difficult because he now has six of them.

What's he going to do with all of those when he gets back to the States? New York is hardly the surfing capital of the world.

More importantly, is he going to shave those sideburns? I've gotten quite attached to them.

The movie also has cannons:
The cannons are part of the only complete battery of its kind and can trace its history back to a real-life miliary unit in the 1850s.

The elevating gears on the pieces are even older than the rest of the cannons.

"(They are) actually French, salvaged by the British after the Battle of Waterloo," Major Heap said.

It is this uniqueness that has scored the cannons every woman's dream - to star alongside Hugh Jackman.

Owing to their status as the only operational battery of its kind in Australia, the "A" Battery will appear as Confederated States of America cannons in "Wolverine," being shot in Sydney.

YES! I knew it was going to be further back in time than the ****in 70's! We may actually get some 'Origin' stuff.

*Dances*

Or maybe they are background for an exterior shot? I'd love to see something before the seventies, though. It'd be cool.

I don't remember this story from back on May 3.

Wolverine seen in Macarthur
BY ALICIA BOWIE AND MICHELLE TAVERNITI
5/03/2008 11:29:58 AM

CAMDEN is being considered for the backdrop of Hugh Jackman's new blockbuster, Wolverine.

The Australian-born Hollywood star has been spotted in Macarthur in the past week as scenes were being shot at Brownlow Hill.

Sporting a Wolverine-style beard, Jackman was seen working out at both Fitness First and Aquafit in Campbelltown and stayed at Campbelltown Rydges.

The Advertiser understands Camelot, one of Camden's historic properties, is being considered by the production company as a location for some scenes of the film.

Jackman is no stranger to Camelot, having shot part of Baz Luhrmann's Australia at Camelot's farm stables with Nicole Kidman last year.

Campbelltown Rydges general manager Jo Acott said Jackman, who checked out last Thursday, was "very down to earth, a nice, unassuming man".

The hotel's staff rubbed shoulders with not only Jackman but the Black Eyed Peas' Will.I.Am, Naomi Watts's partner, Liev Schreiber, Ryan Reynolds and Dominic Monaghan from TV series Lost.

Ms Acott said the cast members would often sleep during the day and then head over to train at Aqua Fit gym before filming from 7pm to 6am.

She said Jackman was very low-key, sticking to orders of "poached eggs on wholemeal toast with avocado."

Apart from the four days' filming at Brownlow Hill, the film is also being shot at Fox Studios and in New Zealand.

Thanks. Interesting tidbit.
So Jackman feels he's too big to drop their school? What a diva!:oldrazz:

You have to wonder why they held a wrap party though before they were scheduled to shoot more scenes.:o

Press release....

$187 Billion Global Licensing Industry Comes to Life at Licensing International Expo 2008

Biggest Brands of Today and Tomorrow Converge on New York City, June 10-12

Licensing International Expo 2008
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--From June 10-12, more than 25,000 attendees from over 82 countries will converge on New York’s Jacob Javits Convention Center for Licensing International Expo, the world’s premier marketplace for the $187 billion licensing industry.

Playing host to over 25,000 attendees from 82 countries, Licensing International Expo 2008 promises to be the largest assembly of licensing professionals anywhere, at any time -- from intellectual property owners, licensees and agents, to retailers, wholesalers and beyond. Whether spotting trends, building strategic partnerships, securing promotional tie-ins, or taking properties worldwide, this is where it all happens.

But the real stars of the show are the 6,000 properties and brands showcased throughout the halls of Jacob Javits Convention Center, ranging from the established to the up-and-coming. Spanning such categories as entertainment, lifestyle, sports, fashion, food & beverage, automotive, home, publishing, art and more, this year’s show is certain to uncover countless compelling stories.

According to Steven Ekstract, Group Publisher of License! Global Magazine, here’s a few to watch for next week:

Character Licensing

The largest category, character licensing generates over $42 billion in annual global retail sales. In addition to the various characters making their debuts at this year’s show, countless classics celebrate milestone anniversaries this year and next, including Smurfs (50th anniversary), Inspector Gadget (25), Angelina Ballerina (25), Veggie Tales (15), Where’s Waldo?® (21), Cabbage Patch Kids (25), Casper the Friendly Ghost (turning 60 in 2009), Barbie (50 in 2009) and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (25 in 2009).

Entertainment

While films like “Indiana Jones,” “Iron Man” and “Sex and the City” are current box office favorites, several highlighted titles are certain to generate significant buzz (and licensed product revenue) in the years to come, including “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” (2009), “Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs” (2009), “GI Joe” (2009), “Where the Wild Things Are” (2009), “Transformers 2” (2009), “Conan” (2009), “Land of the Lost” (2009), “The Last Airbender” (2010) and others.

Going Global

Licensing truly is a global business, as evidenced by the numerous products and brands whose popularity knows no borders. Among popular foreign properties now making their mark in the US are South Korea’s Pucca, Japan’s Angel Cat Sugar, Italy’s Gormiti and France’s Monster Buster Club. Meanwhile, the popularity of Western brands in such emerging markets as Eastern Europe, China, India and Russia will continue to be a major avenue of growth in an otherwise struggling US economy.

Fashion Friendly

For retailers, deals with consumer friendly brands serve as a welcome source of foot traffic and, ultimately, sales in an otherwise slumping retail environment. Most recently, the industry has seen such collaborations as Marvel and Carrefour, Disney’s Hannah Montana and Wal-Mart, Hasbro and Steve & Barry’s, and Disney’s Camp Rock and Target, among countless others.

The Green Movement

With an increasing focus on protecting the environment, several consumer brands have developed eco-friendly properties this year. Among those highlighted include Penguin’s Peter Rabbit…Naturally Better, the quintessential green brand based on the classic Peter Rabbit stories from Beatrix Potter; Planet Earth, the BBC’s epic award-winning production and the inspiration behind an extensive licensing and merchandising program; the eco-friendly Idbids characters; and a range of products from The Beanstalk Group and The World Wildlife Fund which are considerate of the environment and offer consumers better everyday choices.

Wide World of Sports

From the sale of Red Sox World Series caps on the streets of Tokyo to Beckham emblazoned Galaxy jerseys dotting downtown LA, the global market for licensed athlete and team products has never been stronger. Among the sports brands represented at this year’s show are NASCAR, Little League Baseball, Little League Softball, Elite Mexican Soccer, Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and the PGA TOUR.

Timeless Legends

As the popularity of celebrity branded product lines continues to strengthen, this year’s show features a number of icons whose legacies are certain to attract significant attention. Elvis Presley Enterprises will be celebrating the King of Rock and Roll with a series of artists and photographers showcasing their work of him. Among others to be showcased are Marilyn Monroe, Groucho Marx, John Wayne, and Bruce Lee.

They probably will have some artwork, posters etc. from Wolverine there.

Can someone start a merchandise thread? I think we need one.

They released the second unit crew back in May so the wrap party was probably held then so that everyone could attend. I won't believe it's wrapped until I see pictures of Hugh Jackman without the mutton-chops.

WWII? Are we sure this isn't a mini-series? That's the third war to be mentioned.

MURMUR
HE'S been working up his own woolly version of facial fluff, so it seems fitting Wolverine star and all-round-top-bloke Hugh Jackman has presented cast and crew of the hirsute flick with luxe rugs. Jackman, who produces as well as stars in the X-Men prequel, gave each of the film's 400 staff a hand-written thank you note and a mohair throw, valued at $189. One frisky femme on the flick joked the rug was the closest she would come to sleeping with the hunky star.
