Wolverine filming update/news.

Those were some great pics! :D Thanks for sharing!
It starts to become pretty harsh - the more I see 'bout this movie the more thrilled I get and the longer it seems that I have to wait!

There's a really excellent report from one of the extras on the main site.

Here's another set report which reveals that they will go further with the flashbacks than just WW2!

William C

joe when ur as handsome as me they begged me to be an extra.... wolverine has some flash backs to [BLACKOUT]world war 1 and 2[/BLACKOUT] (apparently he was in both) so they wanted people who worked on the pacific cos we kno what the craic is!! its about 13 euro(20 dollars) an hour but we get double time after 8 hours and a normal shoot day is 14 hours, we get free food too which is nice!!

I'm so glad they're exploring Wolverine's old age and not limiting his war days to the likes of Vietnam. It fits the books, and it lives up to Jean Grey's comment in X-Men when she notes that Wolverine could very well be older than Professor Xavier.

I still find it kinda odd that he joins the American Army. I hope thats explained.

what’s the difference, they were both fighting the same war, American Soldiers, probably just saw more action, which is what he was looking for

edit: didn't quite get my facts straight on that,.... sorry

In the comics Logan was part of the Devil's Brigade (1ST Special Service Force). It was a joint U.S. - Canadian army unit composed of mountain men, fur trappers, lumberjacks and the like. They were the precursor of the Green Berets. Not sure why they picked the 29th for the movie version though.

like I mention in the other thread, he seems to be part of the 29th Infantry division, who have been known to be a mix of American and Canadian Soldiers
they were sometimes known as the fighters of the north and south
(as in Canada(north) and America(south)

that makes sense. thanks.

Wasn't sure where to put this, but my guess this would be timed with the premiere of WOLVERINE. Congrats to Hugh - so deserved!

***LOS ANGELES—Hollywood will enshrine an eclectic bunch in its famous curbside Walk of Fame next year, including Hugh Jackman, Sir Ben Kingsley, The Village People and fictional Tinkerbell.

Tinkerbell? ****ing Tinkerbell? What? Tinkerbell!

*edit* JOHN STAMOS!

Believe it or not, from Wikipedia:

There are currently a total of 12 "characters" with stars on the Walk of Fame. They are: Woody Woodpecker, Winnie the Pooh, Snow White, the Simpsons, the Rugrats, Mickey Mouse, Kermit the Frog, Godzilla, the Flintstones, Donald Duck, Bugs Bunny, and Big Bird. If you want to include canine stars Lassie, Rin Tin Tin, and Strongheart, the list gets even longer.

A final blog from one of the sound guys, dated 30th June but he says he wrote it early last week:
The final few weeks of shooting were entirely dedicated to Stunts and special fx/title sequences: which should go some-way to showing the film-makers commitment to making a “massive mega-budget-action-film TM”

There were some days when we had over 420 people on-set to help recreate various wars (main unit was much smaller), and it was one of those few times when the sound department could relax and watch all the big ‘splosions; as none of our work will make it through the various stages of post-production and onto a movie screen (it’s nice and noisy; however it lacks the "punch" required, and will be re-created later…); still ‘twas damn fun to watch.

Liev obviously wasn't working hard enough - just read that partner Naomi Watts is (supposedly)three months pregnant LOL. Her publicist "won't comment on her personal life" so no *firm* confirmation.

Casting Update:

Adelaide Clemens role in the film is 'Carnival Girl'. She might possibly be 'Sherrlene' who's in some scenes with Barnell (Dominic Monaghan).

James D. Dever, who's a real Sergeant plays a Platoon leader in the film.

I think that Christian Clark might be playing James Hudson, while Asher Keddie and Tahyna Tozzi are playing either Heather Hudson or Dr. Hines (not 100% sure though). Going off the '06 script, these are three key roles in the story.

I don't think it'll tie directly into the Magneto movie. At best, I imagine they might show Wolverine as being present when the young Magneto first breaks the gates at the concentration camp, with him looking in surprise/confusion, followed by ominous music before ending the scene.

That would be tacky , I don't think this film needs to tie directly into the Magneto spinoff.

Thanks for posting that here - I actually put the news it on the generic Hugh thread when it was announced.

Meanwhile - Kevin Feige speaks:

JM: And X-Men Origins: Wolverine is 2009. Where are you in process on that?

KF
: That’s 20th Century Fox, where all three of the X-Men films were. They’ve finished filming in Australia. Hugh Jackman looks unbelievable. Gavin Hood, the director, I think has just finished his director’s cut.
