Woman who claims she was splashed by acid....confesses

You're still generalizing there. Not all white people use black people as their default criminal.

Also, I've known people to randomly wear sunglasses at night.

It's people like you, that make people like her, think that saying sorry after the fact, makes this o.k.:down

It says alot indeed, like whenever you mention slavery someone is quick to point out that it happened a long time ago, or if you tell someone about a racist incident someone will say you are using the race card.

I prefer to mention that the African slaves were sold to the whites by other Africans... They were slaves in Africa before they were slaves anywhere else... though the treatment of slaves in Africa was much different then everywhere else... And I'm Canadian so Slavery wasn't huge here... Residential schools on the other hand...

To be totally blunt, our people are the ones in the media the most when it comes to crime, period, and if you're gonna use a scapegoat you sadly have to go with the averages.

But see here's the thing. We blacks are a small percentage of the America population. We can't be the one's committing 90% of the crimes. It just wouldn't add up. Whites are the majority, followed by Hispanics. Yet, we make up a large percentage of the news coverage, crime wise, and prison population. I'm not saying we don't commit crimes, i'm saying that the way sentences are handed down, and what the media shows in terms of criminals, is greatly and unfairly disproportionate.

Edit: I guess waiting a few hours for at least a little bit of clarity in what the heck you're talking about here is unreasonable.

To the most narrow-minded people, they seem to believe that most dangerous people in the world are either black or of middle eastern desent.

God help you if you're mixed with both of those. You'll rob them and then blow the place up.

I just don't understand all the sympathy this woman is getting. She was scheduled to appear on Oprah before this twist in the case was revealled; i wonder how Oprah feels about this now?

Wow. So many feelings up in this thread. People accusing other people of stuff, generalizing what certain cultures think, videos of a guy exploding. If a thread ever needed to be closed it was this one. :o

People thought that someone threw acid in her face, I can see why there would be some initial sympathy there. There may have been questionable circumstances, but at the time you're not going to assume someone just decided to splash acid in their own face.

Why in God's name would anyone purposefully pour acid on his/her face?!

Attention. Remember the lady whose face was eaten away by a crazy monkey? She got tons of media attention and I think still does occassionally.

Notice how when wackos like this make up a crime, the perp is always black? Says a lot, doesn't it?

Actually it kind of makes some sense. Statistically blacks are the cause of alot of random crime, not to mention the last time something like this happened a black guy was actually behind it.

No, some black dude in england told his buddy to splash acid into in his girlfriend's face and he did it.

What are you talking about? I'm talking about the sympathy she's getting NOW, that it was revealled that she made the whole thing up and did it to herself. I felt bad for her also when they story first broke about her being attacked ,but now there are threads all over the internet, including facebook, of people still sympathizing saying that 'she's sick in the head', 'poor little girl', blah, blah, blah..and i'm just not feeling the love for her right now.

Not to mention she was getting money from all over the world, tv appearances lined up for Oprah, etc...

Situations like this are a slap in the face to the real victims of violent crimes.

Sad thing about this is, is that she'll probably receive nothing more than a slap on the wrist for it. This is why people continue to pull criminal hoaxes for attention; because the justice system does absolutely nothing about it.

Why would someone do that to themselves? I want to hear what this girl has to say.

She should be put in the looney bin after this. No reconstructive surgery though. The crazy b*** will have to live with that.

What ever happened to the short phase of blaming "some Puerto Rican guy?"

The bad thing about it is that her alleged attack has not only spurred some copy cat acid attacks (see Derri Velarde ), but her story is taking away media coverage from the real victims of such attacks.

Point blank, I feel sympathy for the girl because she may be mentally ill, but in the same breath it annoys me that she decided right off to use a black person as the scapegoat, so she wasn't THAT far gone.

I don't feel sympathy for mentally ill people who cause these acts. At the end of the day, they know what they're doing and that it's wrong.

In my opinion, if you do something wrong, and know it's wrong before you do it. You're guilty through and through.

I keep reading other forums where posters don't seem to understand why minorities have a problem with this white girl using us as a scapegoat; let's just say she said a Latino woman did it. You know what that would have done? Given all those anti-immigration law lobbyists more fuel for their fire. I've noticed that over the last few months, any crime that involves a latino in it, the news seems to end the story by citing this individual's legal status, and throwing in a remark about the Arizona law....

That's just terrible and messed up.

While I'm not crying buckets for her and her imaginary acid-throwing black men, I do think this woman definitely has a few screws loose beyond just being an attention ****e, although she may be that too.

Disfiguring yourself by throwing acid in your own face is quite an extreme length to go to for attention
