While I'm not crying buckets for her and her imaginary acid-throwing black men, I do think this woman definitely has a few screws loose beyond just being an attention ****e, although she may be that too.

Disfiguring yourself by throwing acid in your own face is quite an extreme length to go to for attention

See that's the thing. I don't think she was looking for attention. She supposedly cracked and told the truth, when she started getting all the publicity, morning news talk show spots and the Oprah Winfrey show. If she was all about the attention, she would have certainly rode this out to the end. I think she's just mentally f'ed up.....and that's it.

Here's a link to her sister being proposed to. Her Brother-in-Law is black. You can see her Mom half way through the slid show for confirmation that it's the same family. It shows that the family is not the root of her troubles, if they are racial ones.

I don't feel sympathy for mentally ill people who cause these acts. At the end of the day, they know what they're doing and that it's wrong.

Actually.... when the people do NOT realize what they are doing is wrong....then they are mentally ill. That's the thing about mental illness...doing things that are wrong, but thinking they are right.

Yes, it was a copy cat attack ( google search Derri Velarde) that was probably spurred on my this nut cases story getting mass media attention. Also there was a mom and a kid that got sprayed with acid too, due to another copy cat.

This is the biggest jackass stunt ever. She was stupid for not setting up a camera to film all this and releasing it on youtube. She would have gotten way more attention that way.

Well I saw a documentary on tv in england not too long ago about a model who suffered this kind of attack and it looked like a very process to deal with. Months after her attack she still feels both physical and emotional pain, not something you'd want anyone to go through.

So yeah for someone like her to do this to herself, it speaks volumes of her mental state. Sad really

It actually kind of reminds me of that one Chuck Palahinuk novel, the guy who wrote Fight Club. The book was called Invisible Monsters. This model purposely disfigures herself, etc. It's actually a pretty good book but extremely weird, as all his novels are. This situation just kind of reminds me of that book.
