Women in comics and the men who don't like them

That lady sounded rather bitter on some of her comments, but I see her point. If things go opposite from most diehard fanboys' rants, the new "Street Fighter" may turn out to be a notable entry in the "female empowerment" genre.

That Josh Tyler guy hasn't actually talked to many women, has he?

I think he had some good points as well, but probably went about stating them the wrong way. Men and women are supposed to have significant differences, and not just in the physical sense. There's different habits, interests, and roles to serve, for both genders; it also varies with the individual at times. I think the sooner the sexes quit fighting for superiority, the better off humanity will be.

I don't like it when the female superheroes are all butch and Girl-power like She-Hulk's Lady Liberators.

I think you might've opened up a can of worms with "roles to serve," man. :ninja:

Thing is, I know plenty of girls who like action movies, especially when there's a female lead. They don't just go to see action movies in the theatre with their boyfriends.

What I meant is that the phrase "roles to serve" applies to both genders, not just women or men in particular. My original use of the term made that perfectly clear; if folks want to take it offensively, that's on them.

Hater! I think female superheroes should have a variety of appearances so they don't all look like hourglasses that would snap in half if they existed in real life.

I agree. There are enough of them out there to put in a geek's spank bank. They should have some shapes that make fat chicks feel special too.

/ignorant.

Ew, no one likes fat chicks :o

Not every woman in comics is portrayed with a ridiculously tiny waist and boobs that should snap their spines. Look at how Ed Benes and Terry Dodson draw women.

Haha, I just googled them, and while the women are muscular, they still look unrealistic :oldrazz: That tends to apply to most male characters as well...just the women are dressed skimpier and look curvy as well as muscled lol.

Just reading the headline, I say BS. If anything, we dont need anymore male characters, theres already so much. We need more female characters, definetly.

I know it gets a big misogynistic in the comics world at times, like I mentioned in the thread concerning Ultimate Wasp's treatment for....years, but yeah, for the number of females in comics that are given decent personas and what not, it has to be balanced out by the impractical costumes or they basically have to be a mental train wreck in some form.

I think that's due to the fact that comic books largely caters to males and I guess that's the type of female figures that turns men on. I find quite a few of them to be greatly exaggerated though... the female physiques in comic books. I had wondered how on earth are they able to be able to get as physical as they do with those... assets. Not that I'm complaining, btw. :ninja:

*distracted my mental images of Emma Frost*

Michael Turner (God rest him) drew all his women the same.....

Does it count if I name female comic artists like Pia Guerra and Jo Chen?

Oh, most definitely. What male wouldn't want to see a fit woman with a huge butt, small waist, and huge boobies? Hell, I wish it was actually possibly to be THAT curvaceous and muscular at the same time :oldrazz: It is nice to see some female heroines getting more popular, though. Ms.Marvel is one of my favorite books right now

Now Dodson draws WW as she somewhat should be....semi-female bodybuilder. Face wise she kinda looks like a cross between Lucy Lawless and Chyna, but that's beside the point. :o

I think that's one of the better depictions of Wonder Woman.....

Dodson's Wonder Woman looks like she could kick someone's ass, even without the superpowers.
