You mean you find all of these atrocious?

Would you prefer this?

In fairness, I've never thought the traditional look would work, but if a pardoy porn design can look pretty good, I think it could be done.

Except that the porn costume looks just like that, a porn costume. A well made porn costume, but a porn costume nonetheless.

I have to agree. But again I probably place myself in the minority when I say that I'm not sure the swimsuit look can be done well outside of porn.

Although I do miss the TV show, I always wondered why Lynda Carter was wearing pajamas:

It just doesn't look good, IMO. In fact, to me it looks horrible. I've already shown the costume I actually want, but barring that, at the very least a battle skirt would be okay.

The porn suit, and Lynda's suit, is just ridiculous to me.

And furthermore... if pretty much every other superhero out there can have their costumes redone for live-action film, why can't Wonder Woman?

Sex appeal. Nobody thinks battle armor is sexy on a woman.

Pretty much that. Any armor that would actually realistically protect a woman as well as it would protect a man would not be sexy.

So yeah, that's the problem. But I'd much prefer if the people behind the movie (whoever they end up being) ignore that crap. I've said it already, but I want to see a battle-ready warrior Wonder Woman, not a 13-year-old's wet dream. Leave the sex appeal to the porn film; let Wonder Woman in mainstream film be a warrior. Sure of herself, independent, intelligent, powerful, feared by her enemies, and proud... personally, than inandof itself is sexy. They don't need to make her costume as tiny and unprotective as possible in the process.

Thankfully, Wonder Woman is not the worst victim of this (Starfire, anyone?). But still... in a live-action WW film, I want to see a warrior, not a stripper.

I sincerely hope they keep that in mind when designing her costume.

ETA: Also... I'm an example against your nobody, and I know many others, as well. Just thought you'd like to know... :o

Well that's because of how high the lower part rides up her torso. Like she's tried to give herself a whale tail and camel toe.

Why do some people talk about Wonder Woman as if she's a regular human? No armor is going to protect her unless it's magical. And, the moment you cover Wonder Woman with magical impenetrable armor, you're going against her character. She doesn't fight like a knight with full armor. She's a warrior with a very athletic fight style. Therefore, thick plates of armor and full coverage would limit her movement.

Coating Wonder Woman in full armor diminishes the fact that she's the best fighter. People who wear armor expect to get hit. That's not Wonder Woman. She can give as much as she takes. Again she's a warrior with god-level power and the best fighter out of all the Amazons. Would someone like that really wear a ton of armor?

I said I wanted her to look like a warrior, not a medieval knight! Is there only a skimpy swimsuit or a knight's armor to you? Is that it? With nothing in between?

This is not "thick plates of armor". An athletic warrior could easily wear something like that and still be quick and agile.

It most certainly is not this, which is what you're describing, which is NOT what I'm talking about.

Something along these lines would be great. You'd naturally have to modify it somewhat to work on film, but the basic design looks good.

Yeah, but I don't think that's WW's kinda of style. Her and Sif operate in very different get-ups. Sif is more associated with armor while Wondy with her powerset don't really need it, and is more of a non-armor kind of gal. Her wearing all that goes against her character.

I don't think this means the swimsuit is the only option. There just needs to be a sort of balance IMO.

If she was fighting someone as powerful as her, of course she'd want to wear armor, especially armor that has been forged by Hephaestus, etc.

But of course, 'logic' shouldn't always be the number one reason for a costume. Just give us something that doesn't cause people to think of the WW costume as being ridiculous.

The traditional Amazon warrior outfit makes the most sense to me, at least for her solo movie. She could always have a different outfit when she's with the Justice League, out in space, etc.

(Captain America's had several outfits, for example. One for war times, one for 'superhero' stuff with The Avengers, etc)

Perhaps someone should advise Xena (and an assortment of female antogonists that Xena battled), Sif, Faora, Andromeda (Wrath of the Titans), Athena (Immortals) and to a slightly lesser extent, Queen Elizabeth (Golden Age), Brienne of Tarth (Game of Thrones), Alice (Wonderland) and Snow White (Huntsman).

Which is why I said I'd settle for a compromise. I really don't want the bathing suit look. I'll take a frickin' X-Men-style re-costuming just to avoid the swimsuit, quite frankly. And by swimsuit, I mean both what Lynda Carter wore and what will be in that porn parody.

I like Sif's outfit refitted for Wonder Woman because that's exactly how I'd imagine an Amazon warrior to dress. And if you take into account historically accurate battle armor from areas around the Amazon back in ancient times, a version of Sif's outfit (probably minus the pants) would actually make sense.

However, there have been other pictures posted in this thread and others that also looked really good.

It's not so much Sif's specific outfit I'm referring to, as it is that I don't want a Wonder Woman movie to be tailored for horny 13-year-olds. I want it to be a serious, epic, dark portrayal, inline with Man of Steel (though better) and the general atmosphere WB and DC seem to be aiming for with their Justice League universe. So I want a costume that suits such an atmosphere, and I'm thinking something at least a little closer to what Sif has on would fit that atmosphere better than what, frankly, amounts to little more than a stripper's outfit.

I want a Wonder Woman who is intelligent, powerful, independent, sure of herself, and goal-oriented. I want a Wonder Woman able to stand up to anything and everything. I very simply don't think the swimsuit/"classic look" portrays that very well at all. It really makes her look like a horny 13-year-old's wet dream. I can't think of any other description for it...

There's an idea! Multiple costumes! She should have different outfits, or at least pieces of her main costume...

Wait!

So we have the basic costume, which most people seem to want. But she could have additions that she adds depending on what's needed for the fight. The full outfit could be something like what Sif has, but that would only be for, say, a major battle with someone as strong as her, or someone like Ares! See what I'm saying? So we'd usually see her in the classic outfit everyone wants, but for the big battle, she gears up with things to enhance her powers.

How about that?

Also... this.

People may think I'm weird, but I think that illustration of Sif is a hell of a lot sexier than the pic of Wonder Woman from the porn parody...

That sort of idea would work. Though I'd still personally never want her standing there in booty shorts beside 6 fully clothed men. I'd still want her default costume to be respectable, which she can still use most of the action scenes.

I'd save the full blown battle armor for only certain sequences. Definitely not the norm though.

Agreed. When I see WW in that attire, I don't think 'hot', I think 'that looks stupid' and feels embarrassing.

Fair enough, I love the swimsuit look (especially the new52 look) but I think it will translate terribly onscreen.

Yeah, but WW isn't just an Amazon. She's an ambassador, a demi-god, warrior, goddess. The beauty of this all is that at her core, she's primarily a super-hero. Relegating her to a pure Amazonian look sounds pretty uneven and gimmicky.

Yeah, true.

Dude, sorry to say this, but the suit (if a movie appears) will be sexy and revealing :woot:. She will most likely be the only female on the team, and will most likely be used for fanservice. Besides, Diana's always been about sex appeal.

 Wondy has been that and a bag of chips even with what you call a stripper costume. Its kind of her thing even though she's mostly been with that outfit through most of her years.

I agree that I want WW to give off 'superhero' vibes and not just generic Amazon vibes. But I don't think booty shorts are the answer.

If you're going to forgo the skirt for something, then pants > shorts. Neither are very 'Amazonian', but at least it's not as embarrassing.

How they did her pants in the Injustice game looks great to me.

I'm all for the battle-skirt in a pre-JL solo film, then pants when with the league.
(just like how Cap's WW2 outfit wasn't as 'superheroy' as in The Avengers).

Since when is a one-piece bathing suit "Amazonian" either? Also, BW was sexy without being dressed in an absurdly/embarrassingly revealing costume, so don't tell me that it can't be done.

That doesn't mean that it will work for a big budget tentpole film, especially if all of her male co-stars are covered from head to toe and she'd the ONLY one revealing skin.

I admit, I do like this, and wish that there was a way to make it work. (But, there probably isn't...if so, the panties/bottoms certainly couldn't be that skimpy)

However, I wouldn't be opposed to something similar to this. (Loved the Rainfall short!) I think it would be a fair compromise of the two sides. Not a big fan of sandals, though.
