Wonder Woman Costume Suggestions

I think gloves could help with updating the costume design. It has nothing to do with protection or guarding her identity.
What does it have to with then? Ancient Greeks didn't use them, Scythians neither. It certainly isn't the cold with her always showing so much skin (supa durable darling), design without function isn't design, it's decoration. I don't see these women sacrificing dexterity in favor of glam, in my not so humble opinion no gloves no heels unless you can think of a reason behind it.

Also it changes the iconic bracelets into "gauntlets", and the jewel as weapons concept (the tiara too remember) loses it's cohesion.

From what's been said I think most posters here would be happy with something like this Anka design:

Who said anything about heels? You need to think outside the box.

Oh, and here's a Caestus. Ancient Greeks had them.

And Scythians wore boots.

I brought the heels up because they are perfect examples of "has nothing to do with function", never said anything about no boots, I'm quite aware of what Scythians may have looked like.

As for Caestus, they have more in common with brass knuckles then gloves, but you were too focused into putting me in said box to look at my proposal by artist Kris Anka, here is another sketch:

As for thinking outside the box, take the time to read my posts, it seems that i was actually trying to push for a total cultural re-design of this mystical amazons, from the smallest object to the island they live in. But if you forget the references it ain't a redesign, it's a new character.

That porn costume is fun to look at but no self-respecting actress would ever put it on. Not to mention, you lose all credibility as a superhero film with that much shameless T&A.

It's nice, but the plate sections are too busy and her hair extensions are too much.

She also looks like a precursor to Jun the Swan from Gatchaman:

Rosamund Pike's costume for Wrath of the Titans is more sensible:

And since you know what a caestus is then there's not problem with thinking more outside the box.

In post #33, the second to last (above the DC heroes - she is holding a rope across her front) looks particularly good!

Minus the bra straps obviously, and maybe some extra armour plating such as shoulder pads, maybe a longer skirt.

Also, Jaimie Alexander for Wonder Woman.

Again,as I said countless times,No Pants!

I can at least reconcile a skirt, since it was her original look in the golden age.

But honestly,You've got an amazon from a hidden island, who doesn't age, flies an invisible plane, uses a lasso to make people tell the truth....and you're gonna tell me it's not "realistic" that she should wear the swimsuit version?!?

Actually, yes, I will. Nothing you just said has any bearing on the issue of "Why would anyone choose to wear a swimsuit into battle?" The presence of one fantasy element does not justify the inclusion of any random unrelated additional fantasy element.

Also, Human Torch, why would an immortal Amazon from an ancient race isolated on an island were a costume that looks suspiciously like a modern swimsuit? As far as I know, they didn't have such swimsuits in ancient Greece. A battle skirt works because actual Greco-Roman soldiers wore them and we've seen other Amazon warriors were them in the comics. You literally have NO justification for the swimsuit besides the "iconic" argument.

It would be more than simple to justify the traditional costume. They did the same thing in MOS.Have the amazons wear variations of the costume. They should be trying to have a reason to include the iconic look, instead of justifying reasons to change it.

At which point, people will ask "Why are a bunch of mythical greek warrior women running around in bathing suits?" Showing the amazons as a whole wearing the bathing suit doesn't fix your problem, it makes it bigger. Man of Steel really isn't relevant, especially since the huge difference between Clark's outfit and the other Kryptonian bodysuits is left as a plot hole.

First off, some of you are getting carried away with the term "swimsuit".I'm sure the actual costume is not going to be made of "swimsuit" material. It'll most likely be made of the same awful MOS/TASM texture, with "armor" in places. It seems common to call it a swimsuit, but that's not the case in actuality.

Second, there really need not be a lot of explanation of the costumes.I don't foresee loads of people (the general public,at least) spending much time in thought, puzzling why a society of amazons dress the way they do.We didn't get much explanation in MOS,and I seriously doubt we'll get much in the way of explanation of why Bruce dresses as a bat in World's Finest.

Like I said,if you buy the premise of a "Wonder Woman" to begin with, the costume is the easy part.
