Work On 'Bond 23' Begins - The Official 007 Discussion Thread

What I would like to see in the next Bond film is for it to be more like the original Fleming books.

Fleming showed more of what makes Bond tick, and more of what goes through his mind.

I would love to see a Bond film where we see Bond narrating/voicing over the story of what goes through his mind when he meets the people he meets and what his strategy is when given an assignment. I want to see what makes him he is going through on the inside.

It would an interesting and different way to see Bond on film and it would definitely be closer in spirit with the original book(s). Lets see more of the psychology of Bond is what I'm saying.

It'll never happen though. Narration can add a lot to these films, but for some reason, directors always tend to shy away from it. I wish they'd make a Batman film like that, because damn near every Batman comic book is written in first-person narrative, but they'll never do it in a movie for some reason.

In another little but significant twist, we should see Bond more in disguise and be different characters to use as his cover in perhaps two scenes. We can some of Craigs range by him needing to perhaps change his voice and mannerisms when undercover.

I also think it would be a nice wink to Bond fans and to the general movie audience to see Bond needing to dye his hair brown for a specific undercover assignment for example.

Another suggestion for this next film is to get back to the feel of the earlier Connery films with mystery, suspense, and more of a noirish feel. MoneyPenny and Q need to finally be introduced in this next film as well.

I hope the Broccolis get a solid director for the next film and I suggest they look at ALFONSO CUARON. He would be a great choice to direct the next Bond film, since I feel he brings the total package for a Bond film to succeed.

Peter Morgan? Nice!

At least we know 'Bond 23' won't have any trouble in the "dialogue" department.

Saw that...lets hope Morgan brings something slightly fresh and different to the table.....

Alfonso Cuaron or Matthew Vaughn would be my two favorites to Direct this puppy.

The next Bond film needs to be Directed by a SOLID, experienced Director and not some inexperienced and unproven Director that the Broccolis love rolling the dice with from time to time and end up crapping out.

so no Paul Haggis ???

On the other hand that leaves some room for him to direct Bond 23 (he was offered the job for QOS but refused) .....

Morgan being added to the team is fantastic news. Maybe we'll get something that isn't pure action this time out.

I loved Frost/Nixon and The Queen, great choice producers have made. I like to see Doug Liman have go at this.

I'd love to see Martin Campbell come back, but he's alredy in Green Lantern.

Why can't good directors be cloned? :csad:

This is fantastic news! We're desperately in need for a new guy to come in and write this bad boy.

Alfonzo has been my choice as the director for a long time. I think Edward Zwick would do a good job as well.

Ed Zwick might be a good choice. I've liked all his other films. Has there been any news on this movie?

I don't know why it's so slow unless the EON folks were drained from Quantum of Solace. Or the fact that they have to come up with an entirely new plot that's fresh.

Yeah i'm hoping the sequel be better then QOS. Quentin Tarantino I wonder how he would of done a Bond movie.

The thing about EON is that they have a history of hiring directors who wont put too much of their own individual stamp on the movie; I agree that it would be interesting, but I have my doubts that Tarantino would be able to restrain himself in adhering to the 'house style' as opposed to making his own type of Bond film.

Tarantino would destroy a Bond film IMO. QOS wasn't great, but it'd be better than what Tarantino would do (and I'm a Tarantino fan). They just need someone who can make a solid film without going out of their way to make it their own. That's not needed in a franchise like this.

I don't know if Nolan would though. I certainly would be interested to see it, Nolan would deliver a quality film.

He'll too busy with Batman 3. Even then, I'm sure if he was given the chance, he would do it. But the schedule of most Bond films can be hectic.

Nolan would deliver for a Bond film........only if he had all the liberty to do it....I really can't see such a man directing a movie with so many restrictions and with the producers behind his back all the time !

True, Nolan seems like the type to want to do as he damn well pleases with a film and Bond is a pretty tight production. Of course that didn't stop them from turning QOS into a Bourne film. Lets hope 23 is a little more CR and a little less QOS
