Lol, I won't be one of those guys playing this 24/7. With my job, school, and girlfriend, and football season starting up, I'll likely be on this maybe for a an hour each day, if I even get a chance to play it on that particular day.

Well, I just installed it, and now it's saying "Failed to find a suitable display device". How do I fix this?

Sounds to me like your video card won't run it, but I could be wrong.

I have an updated video card, but could it be the fact that we installed a new hard drive this past weekend? (My old hard drive crashed about 2 weeks ago.) Possible that the video or graphics card(s) aren't re-installed?

I don't know much about the technical aspect of computers, so video/graphics cards may be one in the same, or old, or something. I don't know to be honest. My father said he just needs to update stuff and that it should work from there.

I just bought the game today... Any tips for beginners?

Experiment with different classes to see which one suits your playing style more. If you can't find a group, just stick to solo quests and you can do them all the way to 70. I would advise taking gathering professions instead of crafting professions because the latter tend to be money sink, and gold is more important (when you need to get your riding skills). Oh, and if you get stuck with a quest, go to Wowhead and it should give you all the information you need to complete them. Lastly, go to Curse Gaming to find some useful mods that help your WOW experience. I would suggest Quest Helper as it helps you with quests, and Titan Panel for many useful addons.

In case you guys haven't heard, WOW's next expansion, Wrath of the Lich King, is now scheduled to be released on Nov. 13th.

Yo, anyone playing tonight?

I had the trial and just bought the game today. I play on Gilneas, but I'll openly play on any realm, alliance or horde.

You should play with me and a friend on Demonsoul on the Horde. Let me know if you want to, my character's name is Khaostheory. We're hoping to develop a clan on that server, since he's not a huge fan of his.

I started playing the other day as a Dwarf Hunter. Private server though. :o

Here's my advice for new players starting out that I posted earlier. Hope it helps.

I was told you need to be careful with some mods, as they may screw up your game, voiding any warranty and Blizzard my cancel your account. CHECK THE MOD OUT FIRST BEFORE YOU USE AND MAKE SURE ITS OK TO USE.

Just get your mods from somewhere that is well known, such as CurseGaming.

I would suggest checking them out first regardless. It's happened to me too many times, when I was a newb at something, I asked for advice from a supposed veteran, I got badly burned because their advice was badly bogus.
I'm not saying Raiden's advice is off, I'm just saying, be careful.

I don't think it's a bad idea to check out the mods first, but I get mine from Curse Gaming and I haven't had problems with them (although I had to disable a mod when doing the Brewfest timed quest). It doesn't hurt to be extra careful.

I've also been trying to find out Blizzard's policy on add-ons and mods. I seem to remember reading using certain mods can get your account cancelled. Anyone know for sure?

Generally speaking, mods that do things like make the druid shapeshift forms look different, or replace spell animations, they're banned

I heard on the WOW message forum that the "patch before the expansion" (which is 3.0) will be released next Tuesday on the 14th. If that's true, then it will introduce the new talent trees, new profession (Inscription), achievements, and the barber shop (which lets you change your hairstyle and beard, if applicable). It will be a huge patch from the look of it.

I'm starting to burn out on Wow,.. the racism is getting worse and is unrepentant.

I don't like having my kids come on and while in town read about people talking in trade about Killing Obama before he's can become president because he's black and calling Mobs "darkies" and Slants, and Discussing terrorism openly but all about destroying America.

I've already left one PVP server because of it (Azshara) , and about to leave another one, (Frostmane).

Sigh.

I hadn't run into that yet. Sad. Did you complain to Blizzard? I will if I run into it.
I would think that bannable behaviour.

PVP servers are usually full of that crap. I play on a PVE and never saw that.

Unfortunately, people hide behind their characters so they can talk about crazy, irresponsible stuff on the trade channel. Perhaps you can leave that channel and minimize the amount of trash on your screen. Report those people who sprout racist remarks may also help.
