Midway was pretty bad. I went in with tempered, Pearl Harbor-level expectations. Nope, still too high. Emmerich is such a hack who continuously gets big budgets thrown at him.
AddedStar Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
Right now the "Top" 3 worst films I've seen all year are
1) Joker
2) Under The Silver Lake
3) Light of my Life.
Of these choices I've only see Brightburn and Extremely Wicked, the former I agree is awful, but the latter wasn't bad, IMO.
The rest of the nominations are fine, but the only reason Hellboy had any sort of problems was because Millennium Films bullied both the director and Mike Mignola and a crappy marketing campaign. Had this not happened, we would've had a GREAT reboot! Instead, we only got a kinda fun one that clearly most people didn't like, and that's ONLY because everyone involved did their damnedest given the circumstances. However, there are good things about it like the acting and action, and they borrow plenty of inspiration from some of the short stories from the comics (which is where stuff like the opening in Mexico came from). I understand why you guys hated it, and thats' fine, but I get the feeling it might get a cult following someday not unlike John Carter. I personally gave it more of a 6/10, and that was me being generous. NOT worse of the year vote for me, but that's my opinion.
That being said, my vote's on either Cats or Wonder Park......which is not listed. Seriously, that movie was worse than Arctic Dogs because it's so condescending and treats morals about depression and terminal illness like it's a ****ing joke!
Two of the producers, Lawrence Garden and Lloyd Levin, were the ones who wrecked the production. They fired the cinematographer that Neil Marshall hired as a way to tell Marshall that he wasn't in charge. What was the behind the scenes drama with Hellboy? I remember only hearing little rumors like Harbour would get frustrated with the director and walk off the set, but I don’t know if any of that was true.
Spider-Man Far From Home was disappointing for meThanks; I didn't know all that. Sounds like it was one big clusterf*** from the beginning. That's a shame; I like Neil Marshall a lot.
Anyway, what were the most disappointing films of the year for you guys? Since art is so subjective, I feel like we often consider something the "worst" of the year simply because it doesn't meet our expectations. These are the movies that disappointed me the most in 2019:
1. The Lighthouse
2. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
3. Glass
4. John Wick 3
5. Midsommar
The Predator was the worst movie I saw last year. At least movies like The Nun and Venom were entertaining in their awfulness. With The Predator I couldn't even make fun of it. I just sat there and had it happen to me.
You are correct. Please disregard my post.Wasn't that released in 2018 though?
