Like the title asks would a Tomb of Dracula work? Who should Play Dracula? What would the plot of the film be? ect, ect.

Doubt Tomb of Dracula would work as its own title. Dracula is, of course, so much in the public eye that the vast majority of audiences wouldn't even associate it with the Marvel universe --- assuming that's what you were asking.

I'd like to see the supernatural part of the MCU develop, with Blade and Dr. Strange and, hopefully soon, Ghost Rider returning to the fold, and Dracula could certainly become an important part of a Midnight Sons series. I wouldn't mind seeing him that way.

Not on its own but part of a Midnight Sons series? Hell yes!

Blade, Ghost Rider, Man-Thing, and Werewolf by Night!

...I could see marvel trying to "soft-reboot" blade without actually committing to the character by including him in a group of vampire hunters following dracula. This way, especially with the "cost cutting" tendencies of the top management, the studio could get away with hiring a relative unknown and giving him only a modest amount of lines/screen time, compared to Hannibal King, Rachel, Frank, Quincy, etc.

I could see setting him up as the "Dr. Doom" of a supernatural series featuring Blade, Brother Voodoo, Dr. Strange, etc.

I think ToD was as successful as it was in the day due mainly to the great Colan art and also the fact that vampires and other monsters were forbidden in comics up to that time via the Comics Code - so it was something new just to be able to see Dracula in a comic book. Movie Dracula's are almost a dime a dozen...

Yes please, we are getting the cosmic stuff in the MCU now, can we please have a Midnight Sons!

I doubt MS has the movie rights to Dracula.

Didn't they get the rights to Blade back? The last Blade movie had Dracula in it (though I hope such a poorly contrived incarnation of the King of vampires never sees the - pardon the pun - light of day again) so at least the rights should be attainable. I absolutely believe that a TOD done right - gothic, atmospheric - could work. The trick would be to flesh out all the other characters and make it an ensemble piece. If the focus s as much on the other characters as on D with multiple plotlines to keep things interesting, it would definitely work.

One key: they would HAVE to get Keanu Reeves to play Dracula! j/k

I think Geoffrey Rush would be awesome in the lead role - great actor with the looks to pull off Marvel Comics Dracula.

I think Dracula is public domain, actually.

Anyway, my preference would be for a Nightstalkers movie ( or possibly TV series ), with Blade as one member of the team.

Oh, there was a thread on this already, i created a new one, nevermind i'll post in this one instead, since it came first.

I absolutely believe a Tomb Of Dracula movie or tv show could work. Casting a good Dracula for the lead role is key though. Fun fact, for the TOD comic they used Jack Palance likeness for Dracula:

Palance himself made a Dracula movie 2 years later:

A young Jack Palance would be good casting but we dont have a time machine...It gives us a place to start fan-casting though. Dracula needs to be someone physically imposing, tall. able to portray charm and an intellect. No Twilight Vampires need to apply. Basically the role needs a man. Watching Sin City recently the only manly men that came to mind were Benicio Del Toro(who unfortunately is busy with Guardians)and Clive Owen.

Clive owen can easily portray all of Draculas traits and he's a big enough dude as well.(He's 6' 2" or 1,88 cm)

Clive Owen is Fantomex.

I didnt know who Fantomex was, so i googled him. Does he have something to do with Diabolik? The wiki on Fantomex mentions Diabolik. I love the Danger:Diabolik movie and Clive would be a cool choice if they were to do a remake of that movie. Still, id rather have him as Dracula.

Universal has the movie rights to Dracula...Dracula was in the third Blade movie but they called him The Drake...to get away with not calling him Dracula.
and Universal is about to put out Dracula Untold which they hope will spark a franchise.

Thats right, totally forgot about Blade 3's badguy. Dominic Purcell played him i seem to remember. I didnt like that movie. Nothing against Purcell. I like him and casted him as Gladiator in the Netflix Daredevil show.

So, in other words, no Dracula for Marvel? I thought Dracula was public domain? Or is that just the book? Maybe if Marvel and Universal Came to an under$tanding. They did something like that for TIH and Avengers right?

Or did Marvel have the rights back for The Avengers by then? Dracula Untold eh? I dont think an understanding is gonna be reached then.

Although some sort of deal for a Tomb Of Dracula tv show, perhaps on Netflix could be worked out between the companies. A tv show wouldnt mean the same competition as a movie.
