Would anyone like to try to design a flyer for a convention?

Hey all.
I have been talking to the person in charge of a new convention in Houston
Comic-palooza

I was wondering, if anyone here, because some of you are so damn talented, would be interested in doing one for him. It wouldn't be for money, but you can of course take credit for it.

I am curious if any of you would be willing to design a flyer or two for the hell of it?

What are the details??

Its a comic convention in Houston may 2nd and 3rd.
Its happening at the same time as Wolverine comes out.
http://forums.superherohype.com/showthread.php?t=318474 is the link I made where there is a small list of people...

More are looking to join, but they have not given the thumbs up yet.

If you are interested, I can get with the organizer of the Convention and get you in touch with him...

Just wanted to see if anyone would be interested.

I'd love to! I've done ads, flyers, pamphlets, and a magazine before. Would we be allowed to use pictures of comic books and images from comic book films?

I would prolly draw and ink and original character for the con. It's a fad, but hey any original hero that actually comes out cool will be remembered. I'd make the character resemble other powerful popular characters too. Only thing I've never done before is the photoshop lettering for the Con title.

Whats the name of the con?

Could you post the details in this thread? Things like;

- How will the flyer be printed? (Size of paper? Color, Grayscale or B&W?)
- Do they have a logo that needs to be incorporated into the design?
- What specific information needs to be communicated? (Dates? Locations? Contact Info?)

Any pictures would have to no be of copyrighted material....

The size I think is standard paper size...
Black and white I imagine, will have to get with the organizer to find out.
No logo, he was looking for a number of unique flyers

I have emailed the organizer to take a look at this thread...

get him to let us know what he wants, the mandatory details, etc

i've never really done anything like this, but i wouldn't mind giving it a shot

This is John, the organizer for Comicpalooza. Thanks go out to Malice for starting this thread. Here's a little bit about the show. It happens on May 2 & 3. That is the weekend the Wolverine movie releases. Our guest list includes Len Wein and Herb Trimpe, the guys who created Wolverine in the first place. I have one flyer design done already by Dirk Strangely. I would like a second design that is themed for Wolverine. Due to copyright, we cannot use a likeness of Wolverine himself. One idea I had was to have it look like the page has been slashed by his claws (a la Wolverine #50), but you can be creative. If I use your flyer, you get a free table in the artist alley.

If you want more details about Comicpalooza, go to www.comicpalooza.com. Thanks!

We will be doing several different kinds of distributions with the same art. The largest distribution will be grayscale, 1/4 page. The logo does not need to be incorporated. Text will be dropped on the page by our desktop publisher. In the smaller flyers, info will be on the back with only "Comicpalooza '09" and "Houston, Texas" on another line, with our website on the bottom. Those flyers will have details on the back. We will also be updating the flyers later on.

Just so I'm clear; you want only the image and no text - not even the name of the event?

Also, when do you need this by?

There are three things that will be on the front of every flyer: Comicpalooza, Houston, TX, and www.comicpalooza.com (on the bottom). Those can go on it. Other information isn't necessary.

As for time, I need to finish with the flyers pretty quick so I can get them to Diamond Comics for distribution. I'd like it within a week or so.
