Sequels Would you be happy with Ultimate X-men as inspiration for "X-men: First Class"?

Would you mind if the movie was based on the first few stories of "Ultimate X-men"?

  • No

  • Yes, I would prefer it to be regular universe X-men based

  • I would prefer it based on the "X-men: First Class" comic book

  • I would prefer an entirely new story

  • A little bit of this, a little bit of that please

I thought the first couple of Ultimate X-Men arcs were pretty good but I'd rather they create a totally different story.

me too, something new and original.

Bryan will do it.

:)

some aspects of Ultimate X-men could influence First Class, but it shouldn't be the sole or main influence.

Singer should draw upon all the sources ( 616, Ultimate, cartoons, etc. ) to create something unique and original.....

^ That's what I want as well. He could combine parts of the 616 first class, ultimate, cartoons (especially Evolution, obviously), new mutants, and new elements that he may want to throw in there.

I'll say this: I love the look of the Ultimate X-Men from the first arcs...their uniforms and hair styling was young and fresh. I think something like that would translate well to the big screen.

Beast rocking a Hawaiian T- Shirt FTW

Agreed.

the "primary" source should be the 616 comics....because that is how the characters were originally created. All the other sources ( Ultimate universe, cartoons, etc. ) are "derivatives" of the 616 comic universe.

I remember when Ultimate X-men first came out, it was interesting at first to see a modern take on the characters. But, I kind of lost interest because it felt like they deviated too much from the original 616 characters and backstories.....everyone just seemed too "*****ebaggy" lol.

Draw upon all sources as inspiration......but still remember that the original 616 comic universe should be the main guide.....because that's how the characters are/were originally portrayed.........

I would prefer an entirely new story, but I would like some elements taken from it perhaps. One thing I liked about Ultimate X-Men was how even the X-Men became extremely tempted by Magneto's ideas for a better world until they all realize Magneto's way towards war was not the answer.

Using the Ultimate X-Men cast in a First Class setting would be ideal. Because it'll make everyone happy with a variety of charcters, and still indirectly pay respect to the source material.

I would prefer the original universe as the primary Influence with using
Ultimate elements only to help update them. The ultimate universe has
the characters and their backstory so different.

Also remember this Is a prequel so they are confined by what has been
established.

I'm a Gambit fanboy and I'd be last to suggest Gambit as one of the Original X-men, in any incarnation.

I think Gambit should be more an ally of the team, an enemy, or a mix of both. But probably not an actual member.

That's how I feel about Emma Frost too. If they're going to put both or either of them in the movie, I'd really hate it if they were original X-men, but wouldn't mind them as something else.

Ultimate X-Men has ALREADY been an influence on the movies...the second story arc of the comic (where Col. Wraith conducts a military attack on the school and takes them back to Weapon X, where he uses brainwashed mutants for his own purposes) was a pretty big influence on X2.

I always thought ultimate x-men was originally influenced by x1

You're right. It was.

A mix of many things is what I want....

I dont think it would be such a good idea.

The series was a modernized re-imagining of Marvel's long-running X-Men series born on the back of the success of the "X-Men The Movie" by Bryan Singer...

However as much as they tried to make this series like a what if it was real like the movie portrays it the Ultimate series to me started ok but spiraled back into the realm of just another ultimate reality spin of... personally Age Of Apocalpyse was better.

But if you want inspiration for X-Men First Class - Then i would suggest a mix of Children Of The Atom story and the First Class comics... But be more heavy on the Children Of The Atom side. I figure it has a better picture of how the school was first created.

Take the good of Ultimate(whatever that may be ) and mainly base it on 616 and other good things form other medias(cartoons, games, etc) while creating something new.

Here is something I thought of, does it need to follow any source material at all? I mean, the cartoons and games can be good and not be based off of anything, if it has a good story does it need to follow the comics, sure it sounds like a heresy to many comic book fans, but if it works, why not?

Because the definition of what 'works' usually means it's dumbed down and unsatisfying especially when Fox is involved. It's better to be inspired by the greatest stories in X-history rather than 'fixing' them
