How the heck is the middle guy still shooting if he's getting shot from behind?

I may be the only one interested in this, but will this strike affect American Idol? That's a different kind of show, but I know some of the 3 judge's lines are scripted. (At least I assume so). My kids and I love watching that together and it's set to start again mid-January.

lol well this does free a certain mr TOM WELLING for a certain movie shoot!
I hope they strike until 2009!

TOM WELLING 4 SUPERMAN people! C'mon who's with me!?

I thought the writers strike affected movies as well, including MOS and Justice League. Could be wrong but thats the rumor round the mill

No, it won't....

Reality TV shows are not WGA signatory, it's one of the bones of contention...

The WGA wants to cover the writers on reality TV and past attempts have failed. The working conditions are very bad, they're basically overworked and get paid a fraction of what writers on scripted shows get.

It does affect movies but only ones still in development.

JLA has a completed script but MOS doesn't so that won't get a script anytime soon. I believe Singer won't even be able to pitch ideas or take meetings on any potential script ideas while the writers are on strike, since those are writing tasks.

Paul Haggis got paid for the next Bond film already and he hadn't completed the script before the strike hit. He's walking the picket lines in front of Sony's offices.

The writer for the sequel to The Da Vinci Code, I think it was Akiva Goldsmen who had penned the first film, worked night and day trying to get the script done in time. They locked pages a few days before the strike hit and the film is going into production in January, I believe.

I recall them saying reality programming wouldn't be affected.

Thanks for the responses.

TV is over. We wont feel the effects until after Christmas but the this strike will kill good TV & the writers wont have a job to ever return to. The studios will just turn to reality TV & game shows & they will still get good ratings. Good job there writers :whatever: At least the last strike happened during the freaking summer.

How much money will the studios lose because of the strike?

Or will the studios compensate scripted shows with reality tv?:csad:

it would be cool if this strike is the reason to end SV this season. and we would get like every episode about clark becoming superman.

Gray's is out of scripts... they'll be finished filming Tuesday or Wednesday.

Struck Out: Grey's Anatomy Cast Calls It Quits

The stars of Grey's Anatomy on Wednesday took their lunch breaks outside with picketers and told them they were just about finished shooting until the strike is resolved. "We're supposed to be going until the end of May," T.R. Knight noted, "and right now our last shooting day will be Tuesday or Wednesday." Added Sandra Oh: "This matter is way too important not only for our writers, but ultimately everyone who makes movies, everyone who makes entertainment here in this town and again for the rest of the world." Um, I don't know if I'd go that far. — Ben Katner

I understand that they arent supposed to be writing, pitching ideas etc. etc., but do you honestly believe, and I'll use Gough and Millar here as an example, that they wont use this time out effectively. To start creating ideas in their minds how they want their remaining episodes to play out. Penciling it all down and talking over the phone with each other about it.

They may not do any formal work, but I cant believe that they could just walk away from it all until the dispute is resolved.

she's right, that little boy in Africa needs his season 2 House DVD's!

I think wether or not the WB wants it now they need Justice League for the Summer of 2009. Otherwise they will be the only studio without a big Summer of 2009 movie & with or without fan boys Justice League is bound to be a hit. The WB is in to deep with Justice League to just let it go.

You've got a point. G&M have alot to lose if this Season ends horribly. So I wouldn't be surprised if they have some scripts done either for the rest of the season or for the next but wait until the strike is over to submit them.

I dont have any sympathy for what's without a doubt one of the DUMBEST shows on television.

bravo. Not to turn thread into a "we hate Grey's Anatomy thread" but if I hear another "seriously?" or "Mc" attached to any word at the beginning i'm going to go postal!!!! All of them seems so full of themselves.

Who cares about Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives stopped production today.:D

What does the strike mean for season renewals? We've been wondering whether or not Smallville gets another season, and I'm wondering how the strike will effect all of these shows, including Supernatural.

Smallville is unique in that if the CW were to cancel it after, say, "Veritas" and Clark hadn't become Superman, you basically would be killing the entire purpose of the show, and thereby tick off a LOT of people.

I was thinking about putting the second half of season 7 onto the first half of season 8. We could get rid of potential fillers that are like "miss sweet corn" or "spirit"
