X-Men ‘97 X-Men ‘97 News and Discussion Thread (TAG SPOILERS!!!!)

I found this video a good summation of what happened.

Is this a legit channel or a toxic drama channel?

Now on one hand, I think it's possible some executive or someone could've made such a comment to DeMayo during the Blade pre-production and that there could've been bad working conditions. On the other hand, I'm still not convinced of DeMayo's innocence.

At this point, that guy is putting unnecessary attention to X-Men '97. He should have stayed silent and he should have resolved his concerns privately. This isn't going to work out especially what he is saying about Disney/Marvel aren't as bad as those allegations against him.

He's unlikely to get a new work in this industry again. Even a career change isn't going bode well for him, especially those articles will exist for decades.

No one is going to want to hire him or work with him, especially when those allegations against him go back to The Witcher. Literally, no one has come to his defense since he was fired.
Which is pretty noticable. Compare that to James Gunn where a boatload of people came out in his support within a day.

They seem to be just a nerd channel for MCU content. I didn't find anything drama just objective.

They're not. They mostly just do extensive breakdown and theory videos about the MCU and other nerd stuff

Don't forget, his lawyer did not address the groping allegations. That tends to be a slight admission, as lawyers who like to practice law, avoid subjects where they may have to lie.

Is S2 here yet? Its been like a year!

You got any of them X-Men?

Not surprised, at least Season 2 isn't gonna be ruined by this toxic top anymore and we can leave him behind. I could just imagine the damage DeMayo would start if Disney went along with his Season 2 vision completely. I am hoping Season 2 is still as good as Season 1 with the new show runners.

This has to be false. They already showed a preview of S2......I need Disney to release a statement STAT!

I mean, rewriting enough to be able to toss DeMayo off the credits, well, that is nearly going back to scratch. Yeah, they have footage, but how much will be usable in the new stuff? These kind of delays are far, far more time consuming in animation than in live action.

I would feel more confident in s2 if the showrunner they chose had a better resume but who knows maybe he will spread his wings on this. Part of what made s1 so refreshing was how UN-Mcu it felt. It had personality, maturity and had something to say. And it wasnt aftaid to sideline its most popular character in favor of making it about THE X-MEN.

My fear is that they’ve got someone who’s going to homogenize and sterilize the series going forward to make it more like their other Disney + content and revert it back into Wolverine and the Xmen especially since Jackman just blew up the box office this summer.

Could be a baseless fear but thats my worry.

From what Demayo has been saying lately, it's not baseless.

According to him they told him to make Xavier and Erik less gay and were against darkening Storm's skin because "we wouldnt be able to see her in the dark". He also said they want a lighter tone for the "world that hates us" theme, more kid friendly, and were against his plans for future seasons for being too political and dark. I think he had a 5 season plan.

Just reminding that whatever creepy and abusive thing he did does not mean Disney did not act racist or homophobic either. Just look at Buzz lightyear and InsideOut 2.

I guess we'll have to wait 2026 to see how political, queer or kid friendly the show will be. Their choices for both 97 and the MCU were not particularly exciting, but I guess we have to wait and see anyway.
