X-men 3 Commentary

Relating to Phoenix and her look...even the writers agreed that how she's depicted in the comic books would not translate well into the reality based movies that Singer had created...so they wanted to keep it somewhat beleiveable.

A few times Brattner asks "were fans upset by that?" or "were fans talking about that online?"....Zak and Simon always responded like "boy did they ever".

So they don't mind saying the fans were mad about the Phoenix's looks (Maybe because they had nothing to do with it?) but they won't say a word when Cyke "died"? Hacks!

At least Singer had the decency to admit what he got wrong (Storm's hair, the "What happens to a Toad" line, the fans who were disappointed with the black uniforms so on...)

I think Fox had him put the other version in, because it made Wolverine look bad. Bobby stood up to Wolverine, and made him look like a punk. This version should have been in the movie. It sound and seem better.

Thats understandeable but Wolverine was so much more in character in the alternate scene. Instead of giving a cheesy inspirational speech he mocks the uniforms and the words they live by...classic rebellious Wolverine.

Thanks for the goods on the commentary, folks!

Any more info would be great.

Does anyone notice that everytime Avi is about to mention something important, Ratner cuts him off? And it's not just that, he gets cut off a lot,ol. I know that Avi was about to say something about Phoeixs' powers and Ratner cut him off..I was pissed.
I'd probably throw a brick at my TV if I heard this. As annoying as Avi is, his voice can't even hold a candle to Ratner's.

THEN, to hear Ratner being arrogant enough to cut Avi off? At least Avi has an understanding of the source material. Seriously man, who does Ratner think he is? For God's sake, the man directed a JESSICA SIMPSON music video! A crappy one! (Crappy for a Jessica Simpson video is Bottom-Of-The-Barrel for the REAL WORLD).

Oh yeah! I forgot he directed her video! Halcohol look at the commentary for the movie again and tell me the result. It's on a Jean part so you have to listen carefully.

hey...I don't mean to burst your bubbles...But Ratner and Avi did not have a commentary track together so I'm not sure what your talking about. I don't like Ratner either but what your saying is completely inaccurate. Did you even listen to the commentaries?

Are you implying that I'm lying? It was the commentary for the movie. Go to "Commentaries'' and look. It will have one for the movie, as well as for the deleted scenes. It also had another commentary for the movie with a women and another man, but I forgot their names.

I forgot, but I know he said that Ian and Hugh had a bit of an argument about whether she should take the cure or not. I'm glad I have the alt. ending to feed off of where she doesn't take the cure.

Yeah I saved all her scene's on my phone except the last... I made the alt scene there

dude...I'm completely calling you out on this one!...I repeat...and to anyone else reading....Avi and Ratner were not on the same commentary track...there were no rude interuptions!
the commentaries are as follows:

Director and Writers commentary with Brett Ratner, Zak Penn and Simon Kinberg.
Producer commentary with Ralph Winter, some woman:whatever: happens to be Lauren Schuller Donner, and then Avi Arad.

Avi and Brett have unmistakeably annoying voices...I'm sure you would know if they were on the same commentary track. Infact...I'm gonna go as far as to say that there was a reason the producers and the director were separated. This is one of those rare instances where the Producers had little say in what went down...and the studio execs were in direct contact with the director for some crucial creative decisions that the producers were completely silenced on. Trust me, there would have been some serious arguing if Bret did indeed interupt a producer on a commentary track like that. The writers bickering with Bret was playful...sometimes...but these people have bosses and want to keep thier jobs so even though we get a disclaimer about commentaries before the dvd starts...they still have to remain somewhat professional
So...Javon...you are mistaken...not a liar. You simply forgot thier names because you are not paying attention...its a gross error on your part is all I'm sayin'.

Oops, mabe it was Zack or Simon. Shoooooot, they all sound alike to me.

Edit: And just because I have a problem with Ratner's directing styles, doesn't mean that I would intentionally lie on him.

wrong again bro, it was Hugh and Patrick Stewart.

^They didn't say I don't think. He just said they had a bit of an arguement.

Dang, I need to watch it again. Unless you think I tried to do that on purpose :whatever: .

on the producers commentary they mentioned that Hugh and Patrick disagreed on that particular issue about Rogue...they didn't say who was on whose side. They didn't want to make it sound too serious. But I would have to say that since Hugh was on the execs good side throughout the movie...he was probably for the cure, as he sometimes disregards (unintentionally I believe) the comics and tends to only relate to the movie-verse. But thats just my opinion...it could've very well have been Patrick Stewart who said she should take the cure...but again I'm in the 'I doubt it' club.

Hmmm. I think Hugh was against it somehow. I don't know why. Of course I don't see why he would argue for her character. I just hope they refered to stuff in the comics instead of just throwing out why they wouldn't want her to take the cure.

The other two were Lauren Schuler-Donner and Ralph Winters.

Yeah I always forgot Lauren's name. Ratner was the one that stood out to me.

I have a question: did they mention Joss Whedon at all, and give him credit for the Cure storyline?

I don't even have the DVD, and I've not heard either of the commentaries.

gah^^ I like Joss...he should have had some of the credit...well...damn.
